Having a wand is no longer only associated with the Wicked Witch of the West. The practice of using wands and crystals has evolved over the years and many believe they can be used as a form of healing, finding inner peace, and protecting energy at all costs. As the namesake of the Greek moon goddess Selene, the selenite wand is said to be the top of its class and is often referred to as "liquid light" thanks to its ability to purify other crystals of its kind. It comes from a crystallized form of the sulfate mineral gypsum, typically found in countries like Japan, Russia, Greece, Poland, and right here in the U.S. of A.

While this method of channeling the spirituality you believe in has gained new levels of popularity over the years, the selenite wand is nothing new and has been used for physical, emotional, and spiritual purposes for quite some time. Below are some of the benefits of using selenite and adding it to your spiritual practice.

How To Use The Selenite Wand

First things first, how do you use a selenite wand? While the selenite wand has lots of varying properties, there are also multiple advised ways to use it. For starters, those who use it frequently say it should be kept dry at all times as selenite crystals dissolve in water.

It can be placed near other crystals to purify, cleanse, and recharge them, or simply put in an area to rid it of negative energy. Others place the selenite wand on various body parts, like the top of the head, to provide clarity, focus, and peace. It can also be waved around a space like a home or an office to discourage negative vibes.

Below are some of the benefits of using selenite and adding it to your spiritual practice.

Benefit #1. Selenite Calms Your Focus

Our minds are known for running a mile a minute, even while our bodies are resting. The selenite wand has been used during the practice of meditation to bring the body and mind into a calm focus. Selenite is said to help users discover and listen to their inner voice while its light steers away negative energy.

Benefit #2. Selenite Hones Clarity & Security

The selenite wand is touted for bringing clarity and safety to a physical space and the mind just by looking at it. Many use it by waving it over their head (similar to sage) during their workday to help them get out of a seemingly unbeatable office rut and clean the energy of their space.

Benefit #3. Selenite Clears Energy Blockages

Many say the selenite wand can clear up any energy blockages, and provide healing when placed on a sore or painful area for roughly 20 minutes.

Benefit #4. Selenite Cleanses Your Energy

In its wand form, many believe selenite can clean your aura and energy from the inside-out. Some who are particularly conscious of the energy others or even the energy certain location gives off, have used the selenite wand with the hope of removing negative vibes from their inner self and outer space. The wand has been placed on window sills and walls of homes in an effort to keep out adverse energies.

Benefit #5. Selenite Eases Anxiety

Like most crystals and smudge sticks, the selenite wand is believed to have the capability of lowering anxiety and stress. Some say they have an out-of-body experience while holding the wand down on the chest area, creating a feeling of relaxation and rest. Adding in deep breaths is said to help lessen feelings of being overwhelmed.

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
