The Yoni is the essence of divine feminine power, freedom, pleasure, and sexuality. Our vajayjays and wombs are an integral part of our reproductive health, sexuality, and the way in which women are able to bring life into the world. The Yoni is a spiritual, and powerful part of our bodies, and the energies that flow through our sacral chakras are as sensitive as they are potent.

Our sacred space heralds spiritual transformation, creativity, and divine feminine energy.

Right before and after our cycles, we have an amplified emotional and spiritual connection to our inner bodies. Just as we give extra care to our vaginas during monthly menstrual cycles, spiritual and energetic care of the yoni is just as important.

When the yoni is balanced through the sacral chakra, there is a groundedness, confidence, and sensual prowess that can be embodied. A spiritually connected yoni will have you feeling empowered, energized, and magical. Below are some helpful ways to work with Yoni Energy.

Yoni Eggs

The Yoni egg is a polished semi-precious stone carved in the shape of an egg. They can be used as a kegel tool to strengthen the pelvic muscles and tissues surrounding the inserted egg. On a deeper level, depending on the spiritual properties of the stone, yoni eggs can be used in a meditative state.

If you want to work on self-love, a Rose Quartz egg will release energies of soothing love into your sacred space. If you've had a negative sexual experience, and you want to dispel any toxic energies left by a tainted partner, using a Selenite yoni egg, will help cleanse, purify, and heal any residual energies lingering in your sacred place. If you are looking to bolster sexual confidence, Jade yoni eggs, though very rare, have an invigorating, high vibrational, and balancing energy.

Eggs come in three different sizes, and using the largest egg is suggested for first-time users until you tighten your muscles and go down in size. For kegel exercises, the suggested usage is about 5 to 10 minutes, 3-4 times a week. For ritualistic use, start with about 2 hours 3 times a week. It is generally fine to wear it for up to 12 hours, but you should always trust your intuition. It is wise take it out after 12 hours to clean it and give your yoni muscles a rest. Of course, you should consult your gynecologist for any expert guidance regarding vaginal safety before use.

DIY Yoni Steams

Yoni steams can run you a pretty penny in many spas, but it is a simple process that you can do yourself on a budget! Just like the stones used to make the eggs, herbs have energetic properties that can be utilized in a meditative state. For example, if you want to infuse your sacred space with self-love, grab a handful of rose petals. If you are looking to cleanse and purify your yoni after a menses cycle, grab some burdock and rosemary and toss it in the mix. Sage is always a go-to for connecting to your spirit guides and clearing any negative energy, and lavender is a superb herb to awaken your higher self.

Below is a step-by-step how-to of how to give yourself a DIY vaginal steam:

  • Make sure you have at least an hour of private and quiet time. Grab some comfy blankets and towels to wrap your body up in its entirety.
  • Play some soothing music, and light some candles and incense.
  • Position two of the same chairs 6 inches apart from each other, and sit in a straddling position, or you can sit on your cleaned toilet as you normally would.
  • Get a medium to large pot and begin to boil your water. Grab your favorite green or black tea leaves as a steam base, and embellish your yoni steam mix with herbs that you wish to receive energetic properties.
  • Pour the mixture into a heat-safe glass basin, and sit it directly in the toilet, or elevate it on a sturdy foundation under your DIY goddess throne.
  • Make sure you allow the steam to cool a bit, you don't want to scorch the whiskers off your kitten if you know what I mean…
  • Allow your mind to be still, and receive any messages that Spirit has for you through the sacral chakra.
  • Finish off by using a PH-balanced vaginal wipe.

Of note, do not attempt a steam during your period, or if you have any abrasions, infections, or an IUD. It is suggested that you do a steam no more than one or two times a month, and directly after a period or during ovulation.

    Sacral Chakra Erotic Meditation Ritual

Speaking of the sacral chakra, things can get even more steamy! The Kundalini is a primal energy that lies dormant in the base chakra. When this energy rises, it is released through the sacral chakra. Spiritual awakening cannot be completed until the Kundalini energy rises, up and through all 7 chakras aka "The Kundalini Rising." Kundalini Awakening refers to the discovery and "awakening" of inner knowledge, or ascension.

This energy is very powerful and is not an easy energy to release. Women can work with Kundalini energies by pleasuring the yoni in acts of self-pleasure. It takes deep meditation and practice, as well as actively aligning with your higher self. The bath is a great place to start.

If you have one, insert your egg, and draw yourself a nice hot bath. Dress your water with whatever herbs and oils you'd like. You can also sit under a steamy shower. Light some candles and relax into a deep state of meditation. Focus on your chi, and flow with any vibrations you feel. Bring yourself to an orgasm, controlling your energy until a climax. It takes time to really release this prana energy, but, in time, you will be successful.

It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
