Zoe Saldaña has a lot to celebrate. Last night, the beloved actress won her very first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Rita Mora Castro in Emilia Pérez. Visibly emotional, Zoe thanked her castmates and the other women nominated in the category, such as Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, who also starred in the film.

“I don’t have much time, and I have dyslexia, so I tend to forget when I’m really anxious, and I’m filled with adrenaline, but my heart is full of gratitude,” she said.

”Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for celebrating our film and honoring the women of Emilia Pérez. This is the first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this moment with Selena and Karla and Jacque, and all of my fellow nominees. I’m in awe of you, your strength, your complexity, and your undeniable talent.”

She continued, “I know that it’s a competition, but all that I have witnessed is just us showing up for each other and celebrating each other, and it’s just so beautiful.”

“Selena [Gomez], Ariana [Grande], Margaret [Qualley], Felicity [Jones], Isabella [Rosellini]—you’re all magic," she said. The Jacques Audiard directed Netflix film focuses on four women in Mexico, one being a former drug kingpin who wants to transition into a woman. Zoe plays an attorney who is tasked with helping the cartel leader, played by Karla Sofía Gascón, to transition and disappear forever.

We've seen Zoe play a lot of memorable and groundbreaking roles. Here's a look back at some of our favorite films from the actress.

Drumline

For many of us, the mom of two first won our hearts as Laila in the cult classic Drumline. The 2002 film starred Nick Cannon as a drummer in an HBCU band, and Zoe was a dancer in the band who also played his love interest.

Colombiana

Zoe is a full-on badass in the 2011 film Colombiana, where she plays an assassin looking to avenge her parents' deaths.

Avatar

In 2009, the Dominican and Puerto Rican actress took on the role of Neytiri in the widely successful movie Avatar. She also starred in the 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Franchise

In 2014, Zoe entered the Marvel universe as Gamora in the Guardians Of The Galaxy films. She has also appeared in other Marvel films like Avengers: Infinity War and End Game.

Hmph. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like there is something really weird happening in the fall season air (because winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21) that cuddle season is in full swing while break-up season is as well. In fact, did you know that break-ups are so popular during the holiday season that December 11 is deemed Break-Up Day?

The reasons why relationships shift around this time vary; however, I did both roll my eyes and chuckle when I read that a very popular one is because it’s an easy way to get out of getting one’s significant other a Christmas present. SMDH.

Geeze. Can you believe that we are just a few days out from another Christmas? Yeah, me neither. In fact, because I’m not a holidays person myself (check out “So, What If You Don't Observe Holidays?”), it wasn’t until one of my clients was venting about how stressed out she was due to all of the holiday season procrastinating that she had been doing that I realized just how fast December is actually flying by.

If, like her, you’re feeling frazzled because, although you told yourself last year that you weren’t going to wait until the last minute to “handle your business,” you ended up doing exactly that, fret not. I’ve got 10 tips that can keep you from making emotionally-triggered decisions as far as your financial expenses are concerned. Merry Christmas. #wink
