Summer Walker Believes Investing In A Spiritual Coach And Therapist Is Essential

The very pregnant Summer Walker has had somewhat of a tough time adjusting to fame. In fact, she has openly criticized it, often mentioning that the lifestyle is not for her and leaving fans walking a very fine line of respecting someone's boundaries, and selfishly wanting more music. Despite it all, the R&B crooner has gained the respect of industry peers and mentors alike, allowing us the space to enjoy her voice for that much longer.

A combination of all the above compelled Walker take to social media to encourage us all to seek help in navigating those areas that make us uncomfortable, an area in which she is newly engaged in. She wrote:

bags & chains are nice but seriously if your willing to drop that type of money you should really consider investing in a spiritual life coach & a therapist. Mann that shit is really liberating. It's essential for healing that child hood trauma that WE ALL have (shadow work) & plays a major part in transitioning into a well rounded multifaceted evolved & mature adult. you'll stop hurting yourself & others only opening soo many doors mentally spiritually physically & financially. & honestly lol to come healed is extremely attractive. I hope this encourages someone to start their spiritual/mental health journey.

Walker, who has been vocal about her childhood trauma, says the roots of her trauma are deep, even ultimately influencing the men she chooses to date. And now that she is expecting her first child with on-again-off-again boyfriend/producer London On Da Track, she has openly criticized--and accepted responsibility for--her own decisions, and has linked the two as going hand-in-hand.

"I have the worst taste in men. I like literally find my childhood trauma and then date it."

But make no mistake, she also holds the men she chooses just as responsible for not seeking out their own therapy or mental mechanisms to better themselves. She wrote on Instagram:

"Black men gotta start doing better when it comes to being a father. My grandfather lame, my father lame & dis n**** lame. lol and I guess the cycle will continue. I guess n***** still dealing with the shackles of mental slavery or some s***, back when whit men ripped you from your families and beat you to death if you tried to protect them. It goes deep. S**** really sad…But at least I can afford to take care of my child."

Regardless of any blame at all, it's important for us to seek therapy to become the best versions of ourselves. Additionally, by doing so, you are giving yourself the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. So, for 2021, here’s to giving ourselves the grace to end our own generational damages.
