I have officially reached level 5 of adulting and although I'm totally grateful for the family couch that houseguests from across the world have sat on for a decade, it's time for me to own actual furniture that I actually bought with my own money and I plan to spend my hard-earned coins wisely.

Big box businesses have proven time and time again that they don't know, don't show, or don't care about Black lives until it comes to the value of the Black dollar, and sis is tired. I am sis.

I've officially decided to ditch the department store and #BuyBlack when it comes to designing the living space of my dreams and thanks to the good folks over at Black Twitter, I have the ultimate list of Black-owned furniture and decor businesses that will allow me to do exactly that.

Generational wealth starts at home and IKEA is lit and all, but pouring money back into your community is a major flex.
