A Floating French Manicure Is The Fall Nail Trend You Didn’t Know You Needed

I'm a simple woman, but there are three things in this world you do not f*ck with: my man, my money, and my manicure.

I don't have a man and my money is safely secured in a bank account of my choosing, so it goes without saying that I am very particular when it comes to my nails. New trends drop every day b, and it's hard to keep up, but luckily, fashion repeats itself, giving us ample time to maximize on the latest and greatest nail fads of all time all damn year.

French manicures are so 2011 and it's time you upgrade your classic look and opt for a new spin on your old school favorite, and floating tips might be the nail design you need to level up your style from cute to chic AF and we have the inspiration you need to pull it off.

The goal of an effective set of acrylics with floating tips is to apply a negative space design on the tip of your nail rather than your nail bed. Unlike the reverse french mani, this style offers the illusion of "floating" nail tips and uses color blocking to bring some edge to an otherwise simple style. Coined by nail tech, Tracey Lee, this look can be created both at home or in the salon. She told POPSUGAR:

"For many people, the challenging thing about a french manicure is creating 10 perfectly shaped nails. It's possible just to incorporate the french [design] on one or two nails, while the rest are full [block] color."
