As the seasons change, there's only a short window of time to experiment with key items of both warm and cold weather trends. Occurring twice a year, once between summer and fall and again from winter to summer, this is the perfect time to mix and match your current staples along with incoming styles and accessories. During this time, bending seasonal rules and wearing the best of both worlds is the perfect opportunity to stretch one's personal style while having fun with what one can create in their outfit of the day.

A self-proclaimed budget-conscious consumer, I like to utilize items within my wardrobe to the best of my ability. Each purchase is a strategic choice with the more wear I can get out of my purchases, the better. While I'm eager for fall looks, I haven't completely let go of summer fashion and plan to keep my favorite pieces in rotation until the bitter cold. Get into these classic everyday staples that are must-haves when completing the perfect transitional looks this fall.

1.Button-Down

An oversized button-down top is fitting during every season of the year. Perfect to layer with most casual looks, pair with a knit bralette and trouser for the super sleek combination we all need. Slip into a platform thong sandal for an effortless chic look to wear from morning to night.

2.Blazers

One of my favorite fall items, blazers are a must have in every wardrobe. Get into a variety of blazer looks this fall from mid to cropped lengths in a range of colors. Pair with an oversized button down and sneakers for a cute and casual transition.

3.Wrap-Around Heels

A wrap-around high heels is the perfect addition to your fall shoe selection. Pair with a dress and leather blazer, for a sexy chic night out. Keep it cute with an open toe while you still can.

4.Two-Piece Short Set

This past summer was all about bold prints and bright colors which can easily be added to your fall outfit lineup. During this time, the weather may not permit long pants, instead swap for a cooler approach with a pair of matching shorts. Spice up your business chic look with a printed mesh top for the perfect complement to this lightweight set.

5.Chunky Boots

One of my favorite shoe styles for fall/winter is a bold chunky boot. Getting a head start on your cold weather items, grab a girly summer dress to achieve the perfect cool girl combination. Step out of your comfort zone with this unconventional fall look.

Generation To Generation: Courtney Adeleye On Black Hair, Healing, And Choice

This article is in partnership with Target.

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

A 5-Year Healing Journey Taught Me How To Choose Myself

They say you can’t heal in the same place that made you sick. And I couldn’t.

The year was 2019, and I knew I had to go. My spirit was calling me to be alone and to go alone. It was required in that season. A few months prior, I had quit my job. And it was late 2017 when I had met trauma.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
