We have seen Kelly Rowland wear a number of memorable hairstyles over the years. From the time she was in Destiny's Child to when she released her first solo project, Simply Deep, in 2002, Kelly rocked her signature red short 'do.

From there she began experimenting with long hair and created another signature look: long, black luscious locks with a bang. It appears that the mom of two is now in her bobiana era as she is currently sporting a platinum blond bob.

While speaking to xoNecole, the "Like This" singer credits Tina Knowles for her ever-changing styles.

“I’m really grateful to Mama T for that because since she owned and worked in a hair salon, she would say, ‘Well, let’s try this. Let’s cut it off. Let’s grow it back. Oh, it’s just hair,’ you know what I mean?” she tells us.

“I’m definitely in that spirit when it comes to hair and glam and just seeing what pops and what doesn’t. I think that there are no rules.”

The "Still In Love With My Ex" singer has always represented for the chocolate girls and while opening up about her looks from over the years, she reveals how her hairstyles prove that Black women can make anything look good.

“For a long time, brown girls were told you can’t do this, you can’t do this, and you shouldn’t do this," she says. "It won’t look good on your complexion. That’s not our story. That does not belong to us at all.

She continues, "Our possibilities are endless. If anything, we make the trends and we make it look good. We make gem tones look wonderful because of the brown skin that pops off of the gem tone. We make it look wonderful.”

It was March 2024, and we still had a Black woman as the Vice President of the United States. DEI rollbacks weren’t being tossed around like confetti. And more than 300,000 Black women were still gainfully employed in the workforce.

Though that was just nineteen months ago, things were different. Perhaps the world then felt more receptive to our light as Black women.

At the time, we launched It Girl 100 to spotlight the huge motion we were making as dope, GenZennial Black women leaving our mark on culture. The girls were on the rise, flourishing, drinking their water, minding their business, leading companies, and learning to do it all softly, in rest. We wanted to celebrate that momentum—because we love that for us.
