8 Luxe Products You Need For A Very Hairy Christmas

At this point in the game, I've redirected my excitement for Christmas from the expectation of gifts to just enjoying the season and all that it offers.

(Christmas music's been bumping since late October. Just sayin'.)

Now, the few gifts that I do get are all things that will make adulting a smoother process on a daily basis. And you know what? The adult in me gets ecstatic when I open that new electric spiralizer (family, if you're reading this *wink, wink*). I could think of a million teeny-weeny things that would make incredible stocking stuffers, and since big chopping my hair this year, my whole wish list of hair products have, without hesitation, been added to the list of valuable stuffers that one could gift me via stocking.

However, if it's your generosity that's on ten and you think I deserve a little more than a couple travel sized Shea Moisture products plus a few sample size packets of Miss Jessie's in my little red bag, then you should maybe definitely keep reading to check out this list of fancy fly hair necessities that will make for a very hairy Christmas and an even happier new year.

Add these 8 luxe gifts to your wish list and hopefully someone who loves you will bless you:

Caramel Silk Pillowcase by Slip, $85.

NORDSTROM

Protecting our hairdo is king to the culture of black womanhood. We turn down shower sexin order to do so, we have sex with our scarves on and then wake up with a knot the size of an egg trying to make sure that our scarves are secured. You do all of this only to wake up and your scarf is sitting at the top of your pillow, sitting pretty and clearly opposed to serving its purpose. Well, with this amazingly silky satin pillowcase you can throw the whole scarf away (on days when you don't need it to hold a swoop in place, of course).

Slipsilk has been developed to perfection over a decade with the highest grade (6A) of mulberry silk, "with a thickness of 22 mome." Now, I don't know what that means but damn it I'm sold. Sleeping on this pillowcase feels like sleeping on a miniature bed of clouds and with my natural hair, I don't even need to wear a scarf.

White Leopard Eye Mask by Slip, $50.

NORDSTROM

I'm sure you're wondering what an eye mask has to do with your hair, but if you use one, you know that a lot of them have the elastic band to secure the mask to your face. As someone who sleeps daily with mine, I was convinced that it couldn't be good for my hair – just having that band rub all up on my tresses unprotected, all night long. Slip offers a solution by foiling their elastic band in the same silk as their pillows, making it perfect for safe sleep practices.

Fur Oil, $28.

NORDSTROM

To oil your pubic hair or to not? This question has plagued me for quite some time, or at least since I had a girlfriend tell me that she lotions her pubic area. And then one day, my pubic skin felt extra dry and I knew then that this was a must.

Well, Fur Oil brought instant relief to my dry crotch area with its essential oil combo of Jojoba, grapeseed, Clary, and tea tree oil (basically the cream of the crop). And although it's designed for pubic hair, natural hair girls know these everyday oils can work double duty for your other natural hair.

Warm Slap by Grace Eleyae, $44.95.

Grace Eleyae

Silk is a woke girl's best friend. Natural or on the creamy crack, you know the damage that fabric can do to your strands. However, when the winter comes, that all goes out the door because I'm putting warmth over everything.

Thanks to Grace Eleyae's Warm Slap, or satin lined cap, there's no longer a reason to choose between the two. Be warm. Be cute. Be conscious of your hair's health. The caps fit like a beanie style, leaving hair out up front, but if you have a full head of hair, I'm certain that you can get away with wearing it all the way on top of your head.

"The Eva" Hair Wrap by Silke London, $58.80.

Silke London

Silke London Wraps have become one of my faves since chopping my hair off. Wearing a scarf on my TWA, I would wake up with my hair ultra matted. This wrap-like bonnet is stylish and protective, giving you the ultimate beauty sleep.

"The Belle" Cap by Shhhowercap, $43.

Shhhowercap

There are no lengths that I won't go through to protect my hair from water. (I will resize a trash bag if it comes down to it.) And when I finally do buy myself a reusable shower cap, it's usually the granny-looking ones. I try to find the cutesy ones with prints on them, but they still don't cut it.

But for the same reasons I like buying new workout clothes, I need a cute shower cap – motivation to get going. Well, here is the shower cap come-up if you're anything like me. They come in solid colors, poppin' prints, and they're pretty spacious.

“Frida” Hair Ties by Silke London, $33.98.

SILKE London

Depending on the density of your hair, satin hair ties might not do the trick, but they're worth the investment to protect your hair from the harsh nature of your run of the mill hair ties. Frankly, I'm not sure if hair ties in any form are good for your hair but if you're going to do it – be safe. They also come in solid colors, which are slightly less in your face.

Painted Peony “Riva” Hair Towel by Louvelle, $30.

www.whyhellobeauty.com.au

The vintage vibes are high with Louvelle's "Riva" hair towel collection and that alone is a good look for me (I mean, really, who doesn't love vintage?).

The "luxury microfiber" hair towels are conveniently chic in that I no longer look like a crazy person trying to get my towel to stay intact with a rubber band while drying my hair. Plus, natural hair folks swear by the power of microfiber. There's no reason not to keep it cute while we're getting our self-care on.
