The NAACP Image Awards have released their nominations for 2022 and some of our favorites have been nominated. From television series like Insecure to films like The Harder They Fall and music artists like Saweetie and Jazmine Sullivan, the annual show, which is known for Black excellence is sure to blow us away this year with the amount of talent nominated in the various categories.


Insecure received a total of 12 nominations. Insecure was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and the Insecure documentary was nominated for Outstanding Documentary (Television). Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji were are both nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, Natasha Rothwell and Amanda Seales both received a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress In a Comedy Series, Jay Ellis received a nod for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy series and Christina Elmore is a contender for Oustanding Guest Performance.

Yvonne shared a post about the show’s nominations.

“I meeeeeeeeaaaaaannnnnnn. When the WHOLE SQUAD poppin!! Shout out to the entire @insecurehbo fam on a season well done and the @naacpimageawards for all the recognitions. Congrats to all the image awards nominees in all categories!! #WeOutchyea!!!” she wrote.

Black-ish, Harlem, Run the World, and The Upshaws rounded out the Outstanding Comedy Series category.

Saweetie received three nominations for Outstanding New Artist, Outstanding Music Video, and Outstanding Hip Hop/Rap Song for “Best Friend.” Jazmine Sullivan’s Heaux Tales is a contender for Oustanding Album alongside Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, H.E.R.’s Back of My Mind, Givēon’s When It’s All Said and Done…Take Time, and Silk Sonic’s An Evening with Silk Sonic.

Chlöe was nominated for Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album, Outstanding Soul/ R&B Song, and she and her sister were nominated for Outstanding Duo, Group, and Collaboration (Traditional).

In the film categories, Judas and the Black Messiah, Respect, King Richard, and The Harder They Fall along with their actors received several nominations. Each movie was nominated in the Oustanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture category.

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards will be hosted by Anthony Anderson and will air on Feb. 26 at 8 pm EST.
