From Ruff Ryder to Reiki, Eve has truly put the capital "S" in Soft Life. In a recent interview with the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, the rapper-turned-actress opened up about tapping into her softer side in her real life. For her, that looks like deep healing, growing through her roles as a wife, a bonus mom, and a mother, and choosing vulnerability over the armor she once wore.

"Yes, in a way [I’m living the soft life] because I worked on myself," she told Angie. "It’s not just soft life because of the man I’m with. Some people have this idea of what my life is...because whatever."

She also set the record straight, that her husband, British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, is not in the billionaire's club, while also assuring listeners that the money's still long. "He’s not a billionaire. He ain’t broke, but I ain’t broke either,” she said. “So I’m not gonna be with a broke dude, you know what I mean?"

Eve and Cooper have been married for 11 years, and she made it clear that longevity doesn’t mean it's easy. “Marriage is hard. Marriage is a choice," she shared. "You really have to, you really have to communicate. It sounds cliché, but it’s true."

The 46-year-old rapper also admitted that her husband is more of the romantic of the pair, and that she has had to work on letting herself be seen emotionally. "I think we’re all scared of really being seen vulnerably," she said. "It’s the vulnerability. We say the word. I don’t know if I’ve ever been really comfortable with her. That is scary. That is so scary."

Eve touched on what it was that drew her to Cooper so many years ago. And what stood out for her was the fact that his quiet confidence was so different from the flashy approach she was used to. Coming from hip-hop where everything is there and in your face, to have a man pursue her that was mysterious but also calm had her intrigued. Ultimately speaking though, it was his intentionality that did the talking.

"I wanted someone to come get me," Eve recalled, reflecting on situationships and the feeling of going with everybody's flow for too long. She got tired and gave up on dating entirely. But then came Cooper. "He pursued me," she said. It was everything she didn't know she needed and came into her life right on time.

Now as a mom to their son Wilde Wolf, Eve shared that motherhood reshaped her identity and opened her up in ways she never could have seen. "It's the best thing," she said of raising her son. "It's the loneliest, busiest time of your life... you're so insulated with this little person... it's just you and that baby."

Laughing, she referred to herself as a "smother mother" and a helicopter mom, adding, "I'm trying not to make him a spoiled brat. I'm not succeeding."

Her soft life though isn't just about being married or being a mom, it's about the inner work. It's about Eve doing what she needs to do to feel like Eve.

"I do all the things," she said. "The healing. The acupuncture. The spinal energetics. The reiki. The breathwork. That’s my life. That’s who I am for real... I do the work. Nobody can’t fix nobody. Period."

Hmph. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like there is something really weird happening in the fall season air (because winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21) that cuddle season is in full swing while break-up season is as well. In fact, did you know that break-ups are so popular during the holiday season that December 11 is deemed Break-Up Day?

The reasons why relationships shift around this time vary; however, I did both roll my eyes and chuckle when I read that a very popular one is because it’s an easy way to get out of getting one’s significant other a Christmas present. SMDH.

8 Interesting Facts About Sleep And Your Immune System

While doing a podcast interview a couple of weeks ago, when I said my age, the interviewer complimented me by saying that what I said is not what they would’ve guessed. When they asked what the secret was, the first thing that came out of my mouth was, “Oh, I’m gonna take me a nap.”

I adore sleep. I’ve said before that it’s like what Six Flags is to some people. And really, it’s just a plus that there are so many health benefits from getting plenty of rest. Beauty-wise, science does reveal that getting no less than seven hours a night can slow down signs of aging. Know what else? There are some direct things that sleep — and the lack thereof — can do to your immunity as well.
