Black girls got the juice! 2017 has been a full-on year of consistent revealing of the magic that we hold within. Anything we touch turns to gold because of our creativity and innate ingenuity.

Take, for instance, the influx of beauty gurus that have created their empires with YouTube. Beautiful WOC beauty vloggers such as @Alissa.Ashley, Chinutay, Jackie Aina, and many more, have taken the initiative to provide a platform for women to learn beauty tips and tricks to satisfy our inner beauty guru. Though all unique in their own light, the repetition of videos can become a bit overwhelming for someone who wants a fast and entertaining beauty vlog. In comes Chelsie Worthy.

Chelsie Worthy (@wvrthy) has been going viral with her "Traptorial" videos - makeup tutorials that she utilizes trap music in her execution. The result are videos that are insanely entertaining and her beat always ends up on point. Just last night, a traptorial she dropped on Twitter is racking up views at 400K and counting!

The truth is in the pudding. For Chelsie's videos, the reason for virality is not cryptic at all. The YouTube community is over-saturated. With the internet, there is a low-bar entry for virtually anything: making music, vlogging, writing, and being a Twitter critic. So it comes to no surprise that creative flair and originality is the key to truly making a mark. People love the differentiation that Chelsie brings with her videos.

Pretty girls love trap music. (Because, everyone needs a beat, whether we're talking our make-up or the music we get ready to.)

Taking trendy trap songs like "Ric Flair Drip" by Offset and Metroboomin', Chelsie gives a quick tutorial using humorous editing skills and dance moves to guide us through a beauty routine that takes less than a two-minute song to perfect. What's even more impressive is that Chelsie does all the editing in her videos herself!

In a recent interview with POPSUGAR Beauty, the influencer shared the meaning behind her creative direction in her vids:

"The beauty industry doesn't want creators who have their own minds, creative ideas, or edge. I wanted to show girls that you don't have to conform to a standard of beauty when you can easily create your own. You can be unapologetically you and still considered beautiful. That doesn't take away from our beauty or mean we don't deserve recognition. That's why I created traptorials, to represent girls like me who are talented but don't fit the status quo."

It's truly a work of art to get your highlighter on point whilst still catering to that inner-G that lives inside of us all.

Generation To Generation: Courtney Adeleye On Black Hair, Healing, And Choice

This article is in partnership with Target.

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

A 5-Year Healing Journey Taught Me How To Choose Myself

They say you can’t heal in the same place that made you sick. And I couldn’t.

The year was 2019, and I knew I had to go. My spirit was calling me to be alone and to go alone. It was required in that season. A few months prior, I had quit my job. And it was late 2017 when I had met trauma.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
