Let’s be real: talk shows haven’t been hitting the same lately. But The Nae’Ked Truth is here to switch things up a bit. Hosted by Atlanta’s very own media powerhouses, La'Janeé—a best-selling author, award-winning journalist, and Senior Social Editor at BET—and Kedrin Herron, the Digital Editor at Upscale Magazine, this talk show isn’t here for the clickbait.

It’s serving up real conversations, raw truths, and unapologetic Black excellence—all while keeping us entertained and in our feels.

Why The Nae'Ked Truth?

The name isn’t just a clever play on words—it’s a whole vibe. “[The name] is about peeling back the layers and getting to the heart of who people really are,” the hosts explain. In a world full of hot takes and fake news, this show is all about authenticity, vulnerability, and keeping it 100.

I got the chance to sit with La'Janeé and Kendrin about their vision, their journey, and what makes this show so special. Plus, I sat front row for two live tapings featuring singer Avery Wilson and another special guest. Trust me, the magic happening behind the scenes is just as captivating as what you see on YouTube.

Their debut episode with Dr. Heavenly Kimes of Married to Medicine sets the tone: no fluff, just real talk. Dr. Heavenly gets into the good, the bad, and the messy, sharing stories you won’t hear anywhere else.

The Perfect Balance

These two hosts have a chemistry that’s unmatched. One brings the polish and poise, while the other is here for the unfiltered truths that’ll have you hollering at your screen. Together, they create the perfect mix of thought-provoking and laugh-out-loud moments, giving every guest the space to share their story in a way that feels both intimate and impactful.

Behind the Scenes: Making It Happen

Building a talk show isn’t all glam, and La'Janeé and Kedrin have been putting in the work. From handpicking furniture to making sure the guest accommodations are up to par, they’ve been involved in every detail. “It’s a lot, but we wouldn’t have it any other way,” they share. And trust—every bit of effort shows in the quality of the production.

What to Expect This Season

The topics? Timely and necessary. The guests? Carefully chosen to bring depth and variety. The vibes? Immaculate. Each episode is crafted to spark meaningful conversations while keeping you entertained. And the hospitality for their guests? Next-level. “We want people to feel celebrated when they come on our show,” the hosts say.

Dreaming ahead, their guest wish list includes icons like LeBron James, TLC, Chris Brown, and K. Michelle. And with their unique approach, we wouldn’t be surprised if they made it happen.

Why You’ll Love It

The Nae’Ked Truth is more than a talk show; it’s a celebration of Black voices, stories, and truths. Whether you’re tuning in for the powerful conversations, the laughs, or just to feel seen, this show is bringing it all.

Because We Are Still IT, Girl: It Girl 100 Returns

Last year, when our xoNecole team dropped our inaugural It Girl 100 honoree list, the world felt, ahem, a bit brighter.

It was March 2024, and we still had a Black woman as the Vice President of the United States. DEI rollbacks weren’t being tossed around like confetti. And more than 300,000 Black women were still gainfully employed in the workforce.

Though that was just nineteen months ago, things were different. Perhaps the world then felt more receptive to our light as Black women.

At the time, we launched It Girl 100 to spotlight the huge motion we were making as dope, GenZennial Black women leaving our mark on culture. The girls were on the rise, flourishing, drinking their water, minding their business, leading companies, and learning to do it all softly, in rest. We wanted to celebrate that momentum—because we love that for us.

Fire Cider & 6 Other Things That Can Nip A Cold In The Bud

I seriously doubt that it will come as a shock to anyone reading this that the “official” cold (and flu) seasons are considered to be during the fall and wintertime. However, what kinda tripped me out is that there really are only a few months of the year when we aren’t susceptible to catching a cold: May-July. SMDH.

Know what else is wild about colds? They have five stages: incubation (1-2 days); symptom onset (1-2 days); peak symptoms (1-2 days); plateau (2-3 days), and recovery (3-5 days) — and that is why, sometimes, it can seem like it takes FOREVER to get over a cold. Also, SMDH.
