Teyana Taylor has left survival mode in her rearview and has ushered in her soft era. And according to the multihyphenate, she has her romance with British actor Aaron Pierre to thank for a lot of that. The 34-year-old mother of two has been vocal about how new love has shifted her into a space where she no longer has to brace for impact, where safety, gentleness, and warmth are the default.

It’s the kind of healing love we wish for every woman: one that protects you, pours into you, and gives you room to thrive, flourish, and bloom. And while Teyana has been intentional about protecting what they’re co-creating, she hasn’t been shy about sharing just how much the actor has come to mean to her.

In the lead-up to her highly anticipated return to music with the visual album Escape Room (dropping August 22), Teyana has given us glimpses into her love life through interviews, videos, and heartfelt quotes. Aaron not only stars in the visual album — including her steamy “Bed of Roses” video — but also played a huge role in helping her bring the project to life.

Although she is keeping much of their relationship under wraps, here's everything Teyana has let us in on about their love:

1. “I’m not leaving my man at home. He fine.”

Earlier this summer, Teyana pulled up to the Cécred salon for a wash day moment and was asked to choose between Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” or “Jumpin’ Jumpin’.” She went with “Say My Name” because it’s a “mood,” but cheekily referenced “Jumpin’ Jumpin’” lyrics and her bae, saying: “'Ladies leave your man at home'… Well, I’m not leaving my man at home. He fine.”

2. “What me and Aaron have it's very healthy, it's very gentle, it's very soft, it's very kind...”

While speaking to peaking to Nessa On Air at HOT 97 about why she’s protective of her relationship, Teyana explained:

“This world… it’s not gentle, and it’s crazy. People are praying on your downfall. People are praying on the health that you are building. What me and Aaron have… it’s very healthy, it’s very gentle, it’s very soft, it’s very kind, it’s very sweet, and it’s one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. And most importantly, it’s so safe… I don’t want us to be robbed of that. He’s so special to me, and I’m filled with so much gratitude to have him in my life.”

3. On featuring him in her videos:

When Nessa noted her surprise that she was “sharing him” despite wanting privacy, Teyana added:

“Creativity is creativity… he’s also like my creative partner in a sense. Even before we became friends, we were peers. And most importantly, the video was gonna happen with his fine ass anyway.”

4. “He damn near EP’d it.”

In a July interview with COMPLEX, Teyana revealed how much Aaron supported her while creating Escape Room:

“It felt good to have someone be as passionate and as serious as you are… To have someone on your side fully hear you, and don’t think that your visions are crazy… And also, I’m really big on how you handle me. You gotta handle me like a cup of tea. You walk slower, you’re more calm, you’re more delicate… And I feel like he handles me as such.”

5. “I am a cup of tea.”

That “cup of tea” metaphor is one of Teyana’s more poignant ways to describe how Aaron makes her feel:

“A cup of tea, you walk slower… even when you sip it too fast, you burn yourself. I am a cup of tea. And I feel like he handles me as such. He’s very, very gentle. It allows me to feel warm and safe, and not be in survival mode.”

6. A sweet awards show shout-out.

On June 4, 2025, while accepting the inaugural Innovator Award at the Apollo Spring Benefit, Teyana took a moment during her speech to thank God for the “village” in her life — and that included a special nod to her “apple pie.”

“My mom, my dad, my babies, and my apple pie. I love you all so much. Thank you for loving me the way you do. I would not be the woman that I am today without you.”

7. Birthday love and a big reveal.

After months of teasing their relationship both in public and on social media, Teyana and Aaron made it Instagram-official on his 31st birthday. On June 7, she posted a cozy selfie of the two of them, writing:

“Cheers to Thirty-WON & many more wins around the sun. 🌹 H’AP’PY BIRTHDAY Woody 🎈”

Aaron responded in the comments, “Now and always. Thank you Tey 🌹.”

8. “You are one of one.”

Teyana also showed her love for Aaron by throwing him a surprise birthday party, as seen in a fan-captured video shared on TikTok where he looked visibly stunned walking into the event hand-in-hand with her. After the celebration, Aaron posted photos of them holding hands and hugging, writing:

“Thirty-Won! Father God, Thank you for blessing me with another year… Tey, Thank you! You put together a beautiful day. You are one of one. I appreciate you, deeply. 👑”

December is about letting go. We end the year with the need for more peace, reflection, and rejuvenation, and that is exactly what December is providing for us. The Sun is in Sagittarius, and anything is possible. This is the month to believe in that and to know that the universe is supporting you. With a Supermoon in Gemini as we begin the month as well, we have an opportunity to gain the closure we have been looking for this year and to wrap up old projects, ideas, and communication breakthroughs.

This is the month to make your peace the priority and let go of trying to control the way the tides are turning. Trust in your new beginning, and give yourself time to prepare for it this month.

You're Over Him. Should You Wait Until After The Holidays To Say It?

When a client told me that she was seriously considering ending her relationship of 10 months before Christmas, I wasn’t surprised. That’s not a sneak diss on what she has going on with her man or anything; it’s just that I know that the holiday season (the month of December, more specifically) is a very popular time for folks to call things off. Between the pressure of bringing people around family and the urge to start off the new year with a clean slate — yeah, it makes sense.

At the same time, though, I do think that there is something to be said for ending things well — and when it comes to a break-up? During this time of the year? Before you make that official move, I just want to make sure that you’ve thought a few things through.
