It was the split heard around the world. On Dec. 21, news swirled of Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin divorcing after nine years of marriage. Social media went into a frenzy as many people questioned the once beloved couple’s reasoning for ending their marriage.

Both Meagan and DeVon were deemed “couple goals” by fans and they were open about their relationship. In 2015, they co-wrote their New York Times Bestseller The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life, where they discussed the benefits of waiting until marriage to have sex.

And DeVon, who is a pastor, always went to bat for Meagan whenever someone from the church community would speak negatively about the Harlem star due to her occupation as an actress.

The 40-year-old even revealed earlier this year on Established with Angela Yee that she was ready to start a family saying, "I’m ’bout ready. It’s taken me a long time to get here.”

So what went wrong? Who knows? But both of them have taken the high road when coming to their separation.

In a joint statement to People, the couple said, "After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected."

"We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There's no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love."

They continued, "We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we've spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other."

They later took to their perspective Instagram pages and made similar statements regarding their separation and their love for one another.

However, DeVon took it a step further when he was asked about their divorce. The 43-year-old studio executive was leaving the gym in his hometown of L.A. and was asked by paparazzi if he and Meagan were still friends.

DeVon responded, “Man, that’s the love of my life.” Meagan has yet to respond to DeVon’s comment.

The couple was reportedly separated for four months prior to DeVon filing for divorce, however, DeVon celebrated Meagan’s new show Harlem on Amazon Prime Video on Instagram in December.

He wrote, “Y’all not ready for this!!! I’m so proud of my love @Meagangood! She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know but I’m so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show.”

To which, the actress responded, “My Loooove💜 .. thank you 🙏🏾 Heart’ah’smilin 🥺🥺🙏🏾🙈😭. Love you!”

Hopefully, both Meagan and DeVon can continue to be positive toward one another amid their divorce.

Exclusive: Viral It Girl Kayla Nicole Is Reclaiming The Mic—And The Narrative

It’s nice to have a podcast when you’re constantly trending online. One week after setting timelines ablaze on Halloween, Kayla Nicole released an episode of her Dear Media pop culture podcast, The Pre-Game, where she took listeners behind the scenes of her viral costume.

The 34-year-old had been torn between dressing up as Beyoncé or Toni Braxton, she says in the episode. She couldn’t decide which version of Bey she’d be, though. Two days before the holiday, she locked in her choice, filming a short recreation of Braxton’s “He Wasn’t Man Enough for Me” music video that has since garnered nearly 6.5M views on TikTok.

Beautiful passionate african american couple having a romantic candlelight dinner at home and celebrating their love together. Concept of love and relationship. Kissing and bonding. Copy space.

Hmph. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like there is something really weird happening in the fall season air (because winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21) that cuddle season is in full swing while break-up season is as well. In fact, did you know that break-ups are so popular during the holiday season that December 11 is deemed Break-Up Day?

The reasons why relationships shift around this time vary; however, I did both roll my eyes and chuckle when I read that a very popular one is because it’s an easy way to get out of getting one’s significant other a Christmas present. SMDH.
