8 Holiday-Themed Scents That Will Seriously Intensify Your Sex Life

If there is one thing that I am going to do, it’s buy myself some scented soy candles. And, as I was looking at a display of them in a TJ Maxx store a couple of weekends ago, I found myself wondering just who decided which scents were considered to be “holiday” ones. The origin stories are actually pretty layered, so, for now, I’ll just share a few of ‘em.

I’m sure it’s pretty obvious that pine comes from the smell of fresh Christmas trees; however, scents like cloves, oranges, and cinnamon are attributed to two things: being natural ways to get well during the cold and flu season, and also being flavors that are used in many traditional holiday meals.

More Than Gratitude: 7 Signs You're Struggling With Contentment In Your Life

If Thanksgiving happens to be your favorite holiday — or you just happen to be a longstanding participant of it — then there is one tradition that you are probably familiar with. Usually, before everyone eats, each individual expresses at least one thing that they are grateful for. I actually think that is one of the best things about the holiday because it reminds people to slow down and really reflect on how to be in the moment and think about the blessings that they have. And that, my friend, is what gets folks into the mindset of knowing how to be…content — even if it’s just for a brief moment.

Founded in 2020, the Black-owned spot, which sits along Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy in the Bankhead neighborhood, has been frequented by many important names, from Hollywood stars like Denzel Washington to local politicians. However, the event center and restaurant were created to give back to the community.

Before Tossing 'Em Back, The Pros & Cons Of Alcohol

There is a very specific reason why I decided to write this article before the holiday season officially gets underway. It’s because I once read a study that said it’s quite common for most Americans to double the amount of alcohol that they consume between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

It makes sense when you stop to think about all of the holiday parties, time off, and moments spent with loved ones that transpire around this time of year. And while there is certainly nothing wrong with enjoying some mulled wine, real-deal eggnog, or peppermint martinis, because your health is something that never “takes a vacation,” I thought it was important to share with you some of the benefits (pros) and challenges (cons) that can arise from alcohol consumption.

How I Learned To Be Thankful Again After The Loss Of My Son

On Thanksgiving Day in 2006, my son died. He was exactly five weeks and six days old.

For so long, I have lived with the feelings of shame and guilt that accompany the death of a child. He died of SIDS, but I should have been there. I should have done something, even if there was nothing that I could have done.

On a day when I should be thankful for family, I mourned the incompleteness of mine.

Back then, I wasn't filled with gratitude; I was filled with sorrow. Even with the two daughters I would be blessed with afterwards, on those days, it was hardest to find a reason to celebrate the day that symbolized the worst day of my life.
