Wellness
Emma Grede is no stranger to success. She is the founding partner of the shapewear brand SKIMS, co-founder of the denim brand, Good American, and co-founder of the plant-based cleaning brand, Safely. The British entrepreneur made history as the first Black woman investor on Shark Tank, and she recently launched her podcast, Aspire, where she interviews other inspiring entrepreneurs and leaders.
Recently, the mom of four shared a TikTok listing practical, healthy habits she lives by. "They're not flashy, they're not complicated, but they help me stay clear, focused and grounded, both in business and in life," Emma said.
Below, we dive into five of her habits that anyone can adapt into their daily routine.
Waking Up Early
Emma kicks off her list with the importance of waking up early. "That quiet time in the morning is everything, and I use it to set intentions before the chaos of the day sets in," she said.
Speaking Kind Words To Yourself
The Off Season co-founder also revealed that she watches what she says to herself. "That voice in your head really matters. I try to be kind, but also to be honest and accountable to myself," she shared.
Cutting Down Screen Time
Emma shared a cool hack that keeps her from doom scrolling. "I turn my phone black and white," she revealed. "It sounds simple, but it makes scrolling less addictive. It cuts your screen time, and it keeps me present and focused on the things that actually matter."
"That voice in your head really matters. I try to be kind, but also to be honest and accountable to myself."
Simplifying Decisions
As a busy woman, Emma tries to simplify her life as best as she can by taking "small decisions off the table." She continued, "The more I can simplify what I wear, what I eat, my workout, the more space I create for real thinking. I don't want to waste energy on choices that don't move the needle."
Helping Others
But no matter what, she makes time to help others. "I go out of my way to help someone, even something small. If it's a call or recommendation and just a little moment of kindness," she said. "I believe in karma and I believe in being useful."
