In this revealing episode of xoMAN, entertainer and entrepreneur Spectacular Smith shared his transformative journey from his early fame with Pretty Ricky to living a purpose-driven life centered on family, business, and emotional healing. Growing up in Miami, Spectacular admits he was constantly searching for attention and validation:

“When I was growing up... I was looking for attention. My dad was in prison for 12 years. My mom was a single mom. We were struggling. And I was in trouble all the time fighting and doing all types of stuff I had no business doing.”

He credits his school dance group, Forever Nasty, for keeping him out of trouble and giving him a positive outlet. His long-term relationship has been a key factor in his healing and growth.

Reflecting on the internal journey he didn’t even realize he was on, he said, “I didn’t even know I needed to heal. It was a realization that came to me as we were in our process, and I was trying to understand that this is what needed to happen. She supported me through that journey we were dating.”

Spectacular emphasizes that through the ups and downs, his partner’s support was essential. “A lot of times when things get rough, all the man really needs is to know that he's supported.

“In life, you gotta go through three journeys, I feel. You go through your spiritual journey, you go through your financial journey, and you go through your personal development journey.”

As he grew through his personal development journey, he realized his earlier actions were attempts to fill emotional voids. “I realized the things that I was doing when I was younger... it was a need that I needed filled that I wasn’t getting. I was doing things to get attention to get the thing that I was missing.”

Hmph. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like there is something really weird happening in the fall season air (because winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21) that cuddle season is in full swing while break-up season is as well. In fact, did you know that break-ups are so popular during the holiday season that December 11 is deemed Break-Up Day?

The reasons why relationships shift around this time vary; however, I did both roll my eyes and chuckle when I read that a very popular one is because it’s an easy way to get out of getting one’s significant other a Christmas present. SMDH.
