Taraji P. Henson seems to be a woman to watch lately, whether it be our interest in her growing number of roles like the forthcoming comedy film What Men Want, or her romantic life.

Since Taraji revealed her relationship with her now fiancé, sexy former NFL star and Super Bowl-winner Kelvin Hayden, the question of her wedding date still seems to linger in the back of all of her fans' minds.

During Friday's (Jan. 18) Atlanta Tastemaker Screening of What Men Want, when xoNecole asked for details regarding her future wedding, Taraji let it be known she is taking her sweet time:

"I haven't even set a date yet. I'm not going to stress myself and when I have a date, I'll let you know."

It has become clear that Taraji is more interested in enjoying the bliss that comes along with being engaged than having it prematurely interrupted by the pressures of planning. Though you can often catch her gushing over her fiance, this actress is tight-lipped on details that many women would keep to themselves until they are entirely certain for example; the details of her dress and the exact date. However, Taraji seems to be certain that her wedding dress will be out of the norm:

"I'm just thinking color, I don't wanna wear white, I'm thinking different colors but that's about it. I know it is going to be in DC, I still don't have a date, and that's about it! I'm not going to pressure myself."

I don't know if many of us have gotten the impression that planning a wedding is a piece of cake from shows like Say Yes To The Dress, but it seems to be a bigger task than we tend to acknowledge. As a fan of Taraji, I am just so happy to see her happily in love with someone who has seemed to have earned her trust and admiration because she seems like someone who deserves it. I am sure that once her life slows down a little and gives her the time and space to think and breathe, that planning will take place. Not too long ago, Taraji shared that at first, she fed into the pressure on Kimmel:

"I was pressuring myself because everyone was like 'When is the date, when is the date?'… And finally I was like, you know, I'm in control, we're in control, so we're going to wait."

Taraji and her fiancé Kelvin seem to be hip to the importance of enjoying your life in seasons. When we look back on periods of our lives that we often try our best to hastily speed through because of the societal norms placed on them; we start to notice how much we miss out on as a result of that. Many of us live by rules and values that have us viewing life as more of a race than the journey that it is.

This season for Taraji is one of fruition, where we watch all the seeds of hard work, love, and faith she has sown over her years blossom. No need to rush through it.

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
