I think I've been in love with Lupita's skin since her light first shined after making her mark in Hollywood.

Who can forget that timeless moment of black girl magic when she glided along the red carpet in her Cinderella blue gown and her headband reminiscent of a crown. She was an absolute vision, with her deep brown skin, full lips, and TWA, unknowingly reminding black girls everywhere of their beauty simply because she was it personified. In the years since and an Academy award later, Lupita Nyong'o has continued to make herself seen, taking on roles in films that challenge her. And in the meantime, she challenges the inclusiveness of the beauty industry as she continues to land brand deal after brand deal for Lancome, Calvin Klein, and the like.

Multifaceted, confident, bold, and beautiful – Lupita is the Nubian Queen we all stan for. And for years, we've wondered how she's managed to wake up so flawless. At 35, her black is nowhere near cracked but we are still at the edge of our seats in question of what her skincare routine is looking like. Lucky for us she recently chatted with ELLE and gave the big reveal.

These are a few of her favorite things, as well as tips and tricks the beauty swears by:

Calvin Klein Women by Calvin Klein, $84

Macy's

What's a boss woman without a signature scent? Lupita had nothing but good things to say about Calvin Klein Women by Calvin Klein, which she affectionately likens the scent to a memory from her childhood:

"I wear fragrance every day because my mom wore fragrance every day. It's just part of my routine: Put on deodorant and put on a scent. My first reaction when I smelled Calvin Klein Women was relief. Because I actually really liked it, and having to pretend that something is desirable to you is very uncomfortable. It has a floral quality, but I like that there's an interesting combination of cedarwood and eucalyptus. I went to a school that had a lot of eucalyptus trees on the grounds, so it reminds me of my childhood."

Former Democratic congresswoman and gun advocate Gabrielle Giffords once said, "Pursue your passion and everything else will fall into place. This is not being romantic. This is the highest order of pragmatism." My favorite part of what she said is how going after your passion isn't a romantic notion; that it's not about being caught up in fanciful and unrealistic ideals of what we think living out our passion and purpose should look like.

It's no secret that the key to success lies in what we do on the weekends. You could spend it catching up on all things Shondaland or taking steps to get closer to your goal. Trust me, I'm all about balance, but it's how you spend your weekends that can determine when or if you'll accomplish the life that you want.

As life would have it, as I'm starting this piece, Kelis' music video for "Bossy" is playing on the tube. Something that I've always liked about Kelis, as an artist, is she's gonna do whatever she wants to do. We don't have to get it, so long as she does. If we like it, that's merely a bonus. Yeah, Kelis would be the opposite of the kinds of folks we're gonna talk about today. She appears to be very anti-self-critical. And that's beautiful.
