This Hair Trend Is Taking Over In 2020, Here's Everything You Need To Know

While I love a fresh set of box braids and a silk press, I've grown jaded with my normal styles and with the new year rapidly approaching, it's time to try some new sh*t. If you, too, are looking to switch up your look this season, this style may be your key to leveling your locs just in time for the holidays.

As the name suggests, microlocs are smaller versions of normally pencil-sized dreadlocks and can be started using a number of methods, including braids, interlocking, and twists. Most women opt for this option versus traditional dreadlocks because they are neater, more versatile, and even easier to maintain. Much like Sisterlocs, microlocs offer a more voluminous look upon completion.

For your locs to meet the criteria and actually be considered microlocs, they must be smaller than a pencil, leaving you with more than 100 coily locs after the style is fully installed. Although there is no established formula for installing microlocs, the style requires at least 6 to 8 hours of your time every few months, and after checking out how these naturalistas made the style work for them, it's a commitment we're willing to make.

Black women and their natural hair is often a shared experience with one another, and SheaMoisture knows all about it. That’s why they have launched the SheaMoisture Bond Repair Collection. You have your days when your hair is flourishing, and you have your days when the elements in the air are causing an annoying amount of frizz. You have your days when you want to wear a protective style, and you have your days when you want to press your hair. And while there’s nothing wrong with switching things up, all the hair manipulation can cause damage to your luscious locks. This is something that beauty and wellness influencer Chizi Duru can relate to.

Beauty In Bloom:12 Flowers That Will Make Your Hair And Skin Radiant

Something that I used to be in the habit of doing, that I actually need to get back into, is ending the week with a bouquet of fresh flowers. There’s something about having the presence of fresh blooms around that feels uber feminine — plus, the scent is pretty divine. And, as a bonus, when the petals begin to wilt, I’m able to repurpose my bouquets and turn them into all-natural beauty treatments.
