As a part of our Friday Nights, Saturday Mornings feature, we're talking to some of our favorite boss ladies about their weekends, their way. How do they relax, recharge and refuel? As we all know, life shouldn't be all about work. It's what we do beyond business and career that help keep us motivated and able to dominate for the week ahead.

This month, we're chatting with entrepreneur and lifestyle content creator Dayna Bolden of Bolden Creative Media. Dayna's work focuses on inspiring women to keep love, passion, and style at the center of their lives. Read on to learn how she balances motherhood, family, and business while taking time for herself.

How she spends her Fridays:

"A Friday night will be spent with my family. Because my weeks are so busy, being able to 'clock out' of work and hang out with my family is something I enjoy most. We will either go out to eat or order pizza and chill in the living room together while Netflix and chilling."

Her perfect Saturday morning:

"On Saturday mornings, I recharge by getting organized from the previous week. I love waking up, turning on my old school playlist and organizing and cleaning my home. Built up mess gives me anxiety. Being able to organize and clean up Saturday mornings recharges me and gets me back to my normal peace so that I am ready to start the week. After cleaning is done, I again, relax with my daughter and spend some mommy and me time with her!"

An ideal Girls' Night:

"Most of my girlfriends live in different states, so I love catching up with them by scheduling Facetime calls where we can talk for hours!"

How recharging helped her business:

"Taking breaks is ESSENTIAL for my mental health. Burnout is a real thing. If you can't find time to really recharge then you will be pouring from an empty cup, which is not good for business. I try to take at least 3-4 days off every month where I do absolutely nothing for my business. No emails, calls, travel, nothing. This has helped me especially with being an entrepreneur. It is so easy to just go, go, go, but taking some time is really an asset when running a business."

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

Why A Solo Trip To Aruba Was The Nervous System Reset I Needed This Winter

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I host every year, from intimate dinner parties to holiday movie nights and even bigger holiday parties for my business. I’m also always the person who encourages others this time of year who are navigating grief, but this year I found myself holding more than I could carry.

2025 was a beautiful year, one marked by growth, travel, and wins I worked hard for, but it also carried profound grief. The day before Thanksgiving, my godfather, who helped raise me and had been a second father to me my entire life, passed away. On the day of his funeral, my grandfather was admitted to the hospital as he began treatment.

Love Fresh Flowers? Here Are Tips To Make Them Last Longer

Something that I used to start my weekend off with (that I need to get back to doing) was picking up some fresh flowers to either put in my living room or bedroom. They're not just pretty and uber feminine; flowers in your home can relieve stress, improve your mood, and (get this) even improve your memory over time. In fact, the only downside that I can see is how quickly they die after getting them.
