If you look forward to each new month to scroll through the latest Netflix offerings, you're not alone. The streaming platform prides itself on its commitment to diversity and they've been following through strong. Instead of wasting time figuring out which new Black titles have hit the platform, we've rounded up what's new and Black on Netflix in May. There are some Netflix originals like the highly-anticipated third season of Master's of None that has a special twist (hint: Emmy-winning Lena Waithe takes the lead) and classic's like a 2006 hit starring Tyrese Gibson.

Take a look below to see what to "Add to List" so you miss out on the Black joy on Netflix this month.

YASUKE – April 29

This anime follows a Black Samurai as he springs back into action when a mysterious little girl with powers comes into his life. Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor Lakeith Stanfield voices the main character in this series and comic book artist LeSean Thomas is the creator behind the show that revisits Black history in feudal Japan.

Waist Deep – May 1

The year was 2006 when Tyrese Gibson hit the big screen in this action thriller about an ex-convict getting tangled up with a gang. Meagan Good stars alongside the R&B crooner for this film that still hits in 2021.

The Pelican Brief – May 1st

The 1993 movie had a few things the John Grisham book it's based on didn't, including Denzel Washington. The Hollywood actor plays a journalist who helps Julia Roberts' character unravel a conspiracy plot that turns out to be true.

Monster – May 7

Based on the YA novel by Walter Dean Myers, this Netflix original film follows the life of a 17-year-old Harlem film student (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) when he is suddenly accused of murder. The stakes? Spending the rest of his life in prison.

Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, ASAP Rocky, and Lovie Simone also star in the film.

Sleepless – May 8

This 2017 American drama stars Jamie Foxx as undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs who faces off against corrupt cops and a gang of mobsters to rescue his kidnapped son.

The Upshaws – May 12

Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes join forces in this sitcom about a Black Indiana family trying to level up while tackling everyday struggles. What's not to love about a trio of Black comedic geniuses under one roof?

Sleight – May 16

Jacob Latimore as a young street magician dealing drugs might sound like an odd plot, but it works in this sci-drama from 2016. It's important to note that this film is also Black directed (J.D. Dillard).

Army of the Dead – May 21

This Netflix original tapped Power's Omari Hardwick as part of this ensemble cast for a flick that is part-zombie apocalypse and part-mega-heist.

Master of None: Moments in Love – May 23

We waited four years for this! Lena Waithe teams up again with Aziz Ansari for Master of None's five-episode third season. Co-written by Lena alongside Aziz, she also stars in this new season that focuses on the relationship between Waithe's Denise and her partner Alicia (Naomi Ackie).

High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America– May 26

If a documentary is more your speed, you might want to get into this one that shed lights on culinary innovations by Black Americans.
