So.

Excuse us for not being able to contain ourselves from the excitement of how Kerry Washington showed off her 2021 SAG Awards outfit this year!

The Scandal star decided to take her Etro gown for a swim ahead of the award show, jumping in a pool fully dressed to the nines, in the beaded design and a matching headpiece. And sis would have rocked her matching heels from Loriblu for the festivities, but ultimately decided to kick them off.

But why? Why jump in a pool in a full gown? No reason outside of being a carefree black woman, dripped in black joy—which is reason enough for me.

And as daring as this was, the usually tame actress has had plenty of daring fashion moments that has given us all our lives.

For the 2020 Golden Globes, she decided on a risqué get-up: an Altuzarra high-waisted black satin skirt with a thigh-high slit and a black blazer (from the same designer).

She completed the look with a classic red lip—a fashion statement that is ever a bad idea.

For the 2016 Emmys, she showed up with company. She wore a side-cut dress and a belly completely in tow.

And for the U.K. premiere of Django Unchained, she showed out in a classic, yet unconventional floor-length gown, paired it with Christian Louboutins, and a deep maroon lip to match.

Basically, sis is not new to serving the looks for the people and has been for a long time. The SAG Awards just need to keep up with her. And the best part is there's still a lot of award season left for us to see what she has up here sleeve next!

For many Black women, getting a relaxer was a rite of passage, an inheritance passed down from the generation before us, and perhaps even before her. It marked the transition from Black girlhood to adolescence. Tight coils, twisted plaits, and the clickety-clack of barrettes were traded for chemical perms and the familiar sting of scalp burns.

What Loving Yourself Actually Looks Like

Whitney said it, right? She told us that if we simply learned to love ourselves, what would ultimately happen is, we would achieve the "Greatest Love of All." But y'all, the more time I spend on this planet, the more I come to see that one of the reasons why it's so hard to hit the mark, when it comes to all things love-related, is because you first have to define love in order to know how to do it…right and well.

Personally, I am a Bible follower, so The Love Chapter is certainly a great reference point. Let's go with the Message Version of it today:
