Jodie Turner-Smith Reveals How A One-Night Stand With Joshua Jackson Turned Into Marriage

Jodie Turner-Smith finally shared how she and her husband Joshua Jackson met and it's not exactly a bedtime story for their baby daughter, Janie Jackson. But it's the confidence for us, and Jodie who snagged her man thanks to hers.

"When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand. We're in a two-, three-year one-night stand now," the Queen and Slim actress shared a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. The host asked if she'd been a Dawson's Creek fan growing up. Her answer sparks an age-old debate: "Let's be real, who wasn't Team Pacey?"

She also revealed her strategy to get the attention of her husband of over two years now. "I did not show my hand at all. I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, 'I want that.' And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn't see him," she said, adding she'd been wearing Tessa Thompson's shirt from Sorry to Bother You. "So he shouts across the room, 'DETROIT!' And I was like, 'Uhhhhhh.' And then he came over."

As if we didn't already stan this couple, Jodie offered this gem that makes us feel like our childhood celebrity crushes are within arm's reach. All we have to do is fake it till we make it in the confidence department. And although the Without Remorse actress and her hubby are notoriously private, we dug around for more nuggets about their lowkey love like their habitual high-fives that are really just their cute way of saying "we did good."

"I think it's really beautiful to be with someone who is so supportive and so loving," Jodie said of Joshua in an interview withPeople. "We're so similar in so many ways. We're like mirrors for each other. And I just really love that human being."

"We high-five each other all the time about how great we chose," she said. "We're like, 'You did a great job choosing,' and then we're like, 'Yeah, you too.'"

The feeling is definitely mutual. Joshua may be pretty tight-lipped to the press, but he saves all the lovey-dovey mush about Jodie that we long for on Instagram. In a post on May 10, 2020, Jodie's first Mother's Day, Joshua shared this under a photo of both of his girls:

"Dear Jodie, On this most special of mothers days I want to thank you for the being the light that you are. For the passion with which you threw yourself into nurturing and protecting our child when she was in your womb. For the dedication and will you showed bringing her into the world . . . I love you. I love seeing you enter the pantheon of mothers. And I look forward to walking this path by your side as we nurture this little engine of joy you have blessed the world with."

High-fives, extended (indefinitely) one-night stands, and spilling your soul on social media, not because you need to but because you want to—we love their love.

Essential-oils-nail-health

Something that I will forever back until the end of time is essential oils. One reason is that they are all-natural (essential oils are basicallyplant extracts). Another reason is that the (proven) holistic health benefits that come with using them (consistently) aredamn near endless. And lawd, don’t even get me started on how wonderful many of them smell — and how they tend to last longer than a lot of the perfumes and colognes that are out there. Definitely, for as long as essential oils are in existence, I’ll be singing their praises.
