It’s Spooky Season, and it’s also the time of the year to put on your spookiest (or sexiest) costume for a night. Halloween this year is happening a few days after a Lunar Eclipse, and you can expect the energy to be high during hallow-week. Every year, we have the exciting, sometimes dreadful, task of coming up with a costume. You want a costume that is going to showcase who you are, who you want to be, or who you want to dress up as for one night.

Whether you’re into more scary costumes or want something more subtle, we’ve got the best Halloween costume ideas for your zodiac sign this year.

ARIES:

Shuri from Black Panther

The latest Black Panther released at the end of 2022, after last Halloween, making this the perfect year to use this look. Not only will you be one of the firsts to ever do it- which is something we all know Aries’ enjoy, but you will also be sending a message of your personal empowerment in life.

TAURUS

Lil' Kim

The Taurus is highly attuned to their sensuality, and this is a costume that screams, “I am THAT girl.” Lil’ Kim appreciation on Halloween has become more prevalent in recent years, and there are so many looks to choose from. An icon dressed up as an icon? This is the perfect look for you this year, Taurus.

GEMINI

Naomi Campbell

What better way to tap into your Gemini energy than dressing up as the iconic Gemini herself, Naomi Campbell? Naomi is a show-stopper, and Geminis love to make a scene. There are so many runway looks of Naomi. Pick your favorite and expect all eyes on you on Halloween.

Karrueche Tran

Princess Tiana created waves in the Black community and inspired so many Black women and little girls. What better fitting look for a Cancer than a Disney Princess, as this is a sign that definitely gives off that benevolent energy. Make the look even better by getting your significant other to dress up as Prince Naveen or getting a frog stuffed animal to fit the look.

LEO

Bratz Doll

Nothing screams Leo more than the fashionista Bratz Doll. Growing up with these iconic dolls, there is something nostalgic about this look. The key to this costume is the makeup and the outfit, of course, but feel free to add your own unique style in it as well, because that’s what being a Bratz Doll is all about.

VIRGO

Beyoncé

What better fit for a Virgo than to encompass the Queen Virgo herself, Beyoncé? This one is a no-brainer, and there are plenty of Beyoncé eras to choose from. Whether you want to pull an all-silver look in honor of the Beyoncé Renaissance, or if you want to pull from one of her older looks and get your partner to be your Jay-Z, this is going to be one of the top looks this Halloween.

LIBRA

Barbie

The best thing about Barbie is that she is universal. Think about what type of Barbie you are, and create your Barbie look this Halloween. This costume screams Libra and is definitely the costume to tap into your divine feminine, which Libras are very aligned with.

SCORPIO

Queen Akasha, Queen of the Damned

Scorpios tend to love a sexy costume on Halloween. Something that will bring out an emotion in others, whether that is lust or fear. The Akasha look is not only an intricate design, but it also has everything Scorpio is looking for in a costume. It’s sexy yet a little scary, and you won’t have to worry about people asking you what you are.

SAGITTARIUS

Mystique

There is no better costume for a Sagittarius than something that is a little strange and a little magical. Sagittarius tends to go all out on Halloween, and there is nothing this zodiac sign won’t do to accomplish the vision. This look will have people turning their heads and will definitely give you the best costume award.

CAPRICORN

Aaliyah

Keke Palmer

Aaliyah continues to inspire the world, especially on Halloween. This Capricorn woman has created some of the most iconic looks, and this is the perfect costume for Capricorns to tap into this year. The diamond choker look is definitely a fan favorite, but choose whatever fits your vibe for the night.

AQUARIUS

Storm

What better look for a wise Aquarius than Storm from X-Men? The great thing about this costume is that you can create it yourself and don’t necessarily need to buy the whole costume. Get a silver wig and a black leather bodysuit, and create a storm on Halloween night, Aquarius.

Pisces

The new Little Mermaid captivated the world and honestly had some really good new looks. This is the first year that people will be able to recreate this character for Halloween, and this is the perfect look for the ocean-lover Pisces, whose soul is dreamy, just like this character.

Because We Are Still IT, Girl: It Girl 100 Returns

Last year, when our xoNecole team dropped our inaugural It Girl 100 honoree list, the world felt, ahem, a bit brighter.

It was March 2024, and we still had a Black woman as the Vice President of the United States. DEI rollbacks weren’t being tossed around like confetti. And more than 300,000 Black women were still gainfully employed in the workforce.

Though that was just nineteen months ago, things were different. Perhaps the world then felt more receptive to our light as Black women.

At the time, we launched It Girl 100 to spotlight the huge motion we were making as dope, GenZennial Black women leaving our mark on culture. The girls were on the rise, flourishing, drinking their water, minding their business, leading companies, and learning to do it all softly, in rest. We wanted to celebrate that momentum—because we love that for us.

Give Thanks: 10 Tips For Hosting An Absolutely Awesome Friendsgiving

If you’ve never checked out an episode of the ReLiving Single Podcast featuring Maxine and Synclaire — oops, I mean Erika Alexander and Kim Coles — it’s worth listening to an episode or two; especially if you’re someone like me who watches the Living Single reruns on TV One, sometimes, like they just came out. Good times.

And what does this even remotely have to do with Friendsgiving? Well, if you ever wondered what the origin story of this non-holiday-holiday is, legend has it that it’s mostly due to the combination of a 2007 tweet and the show that tries to act like it wasn’t birthed out of Living Single: Friends (I’m not the only one who feels this way either; you can read more about all of that here, here and here).
