Skin is in. Skincare that is, and as a result skincare lines are popping up left and right. The skincare market is currently a multi-billion dollar industry and expected to continue to grow over the next few years. In fact, a report by Technavio shows that the global skincare market is expected to grow by $38.03 billion from 2020-2024. Celebrities are no exception to the trend and are cashing in on the skincare wave. It seems like every other day we hear about a celebrity dropping a new line and I'm not mad at it. Get into some of the newest skincare brands by some of your favorite black celebs below and be prepared to be tempted to give them all of your coins.

Fenty Skin by Rihanna

I don't know when we're getting another Rihanna album but what I do know is that Rihanna has been working! After leaving the beauty industry in complete and utter shambles with the launch of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna is back with Fenty Skin. Fenty Skin, designed to complement Fenty Beauty, focuses more on skin health. The brand states that the vegan and gluten-free line has been tested on all skin types and tones and prioritizes clean formulas. The line includes a cleanser, a serum, and a day and night moisturizer. I'm ecstatic to see that the line also comes with sunscreen because black girls, we need sunscreen too. The products can be purchased individually or in sets.

EleVen by Venus Williams

Due to her career as a professional tennis player, Venus Williams undoubtedly spends a great deal of time outside so it's no surprise that she would get in on the sunscreen game. EleVen, a brand that got its start in activewear apparel, recently added two skincare products to its line. One product is an SPF 30 sunscreen and the other is an SPF sun serum. The clean beauty products are said to be for all skin shades and types. I'm loving the fact that the talk of sunscreen in our community is becoming the norm.

Humanrace by Pharrell Williams

I don't know about y'all but if my good brother Pharrell Williams is selling anything related to skin, I'm buying because he literally does not age. The new line by Pharrell believes that "a skincare routine is only as effective as your commitment to it." The brand also believes that less is more and created a line that eliminates the need for unnecessary steps. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on these products, you'll find that there are three steps: a cleanser, an exfoliator, and a moisturizer. Another neat thing about this line is that it operates with a refill system. When you run out, you can simply remove the refill base and replace it with a new refill. Leave it to Pharrell to save the planet while aging backwards.

Keys Soulcare by Alicia Keys

A few years ago, Alicia Keys shared with the world that she would be embarking on a no-makeup journey. Why? Simply put, she had no desire to cover up anymore. While she has worn makeup occasionally since making that public declaration, it is always very natural looking and subtle. Alicia's no-makeup journey has made it easy to see that her skin has been looking amazing lately so I wasn't exactly shocked when I heard that she was creating a skincare line. Keys Soulcare, whose motto is "beauty is more than skin deep" won't be available for purchase until 2021 but the website is up and running and you can take a peek at a few of the products that will be available next year such as a jade roller and a skin cream.

SkinBUTTR by Tatiana Elizabeth Price

Tatiana Elizabeth Price is a model who was on cycle 23 of America's Next Top Model. Sis is stunning with beautiful skin so I was hype to see that she dropped a skincare line this year. SkinBUTTR consists of whipped shea butter-based body butter and scrubs. SkinBUTTR has products for both your face and your body so you are covered from head to toe with this brand. They even carry hand sanitizer which is a product that is always on deck in my purse nowadays! The products can either be purchased individually or in a set.

As Black women, our hair is our crowning glory - whether we paid for it or not. We take pride in how we wear and take care of our hair. As with everything, hair care and hair styling have evolved over the years. Long gone are the days of Blue Magic (although I hear it’s making a comeback).

Now, we have a plethora of creams, oils, conditioners, shampoos, and stylists to choose from. Beyond wearing our natural curls, we have a range of options, from wigs and sew-ins to tape-ins, I-tips, and K-tips. So much choice! But you know what they say about too much of a good thing...

Can You Actually Get An STI/STD From Kissing? Yes. And No.

One of my favorite things to do is kiss. In fact, kissing is so important to me that I once stayed with someone longer than I should’ve, in part, because he was such a good kisser (to the point where I can confirm that “kissing orgasms” are a real thing) and I also once broke up with someone because he absolutely sucked at kissing (ugh). Kissing is sexy. Kissing is sensual. Kissing is intimate.

And science says that kissing can boost endorphin levels in your body; reduce feelings that are associated with stress and anxiety; elevate your immunity; help to lessen allergy-related symptoms; soothe headaches and period cramp discomfort; make you horny (yes, literally), and even decrease your chances of getting cavities.
