Naturi Naughton Recalls The Time 3LW Showcased A Fake Home For 'MTV Cribs'

"I didn't have a car, I didn't have a house, I didn't have any of those things."

Celebrity News

Before Naturi Naughton captured audiences as Tasha in Power and even before she played Lil Kim in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious, the actress was in the girl group 3LW. The group 3LW, which stood for 3 Little Women, composed of Naturi, The Real's Adrienne Bailon and BET Presents: The Encore's Kiely Williams, and they had many hits including "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)" and "I Do (Wanna Get Close To You)."

While they appeared to be successful on the surface, everything isn't quite what it seems. Naturi recently appeared on The Breakfast Club to discuss her new show Queens, which she co-stars with Brandy, Eve and Nadine Velazquez, and made a surprising revelation about her time in the girl group.

The singer recalled the similarities between filming Queens and her real-life experience in 3LW, including an MTV Cribs episode. She revealed.

"That 'Cribs' episode, I lived it, I was doing a fake 'Cribs,' and I'm telling everybody now on 'The Breakfast Club.' MTV did the 'Cribs,' and you know like back when 3LW was hot we had to pretend, but I didn't have a car, I didn't have a house, I didn't have any of those things."

She continued:

"We did 'MTV Cribs' and then we wound up doing an episode [on 'Queens'] that's similar to 'Cribs' without giving too much away, when you see how fake we have to project this image and I literally did that and then have to clean the house by 7 o'clock to give back to the owner."

The MTV Cribs episode showed that the group lived in a 3,000 sq ft., 3-bedroom and 2 ½ bathroom house in Malibu, California. In the episode, they also revealed they were living with their road manager since the girls were underage at that time.

Neither Adrienne nor Kiely have responded to Naturi's comments.

The new ABC show Queens is about a '90s girl group who reunite in their 40's after being out-of-touch with the music industry and each other. The drama debuted on Tuesday, October 19, 10/9c

Something that I try to mention, as much as possible, especially when it comes to married and long-term couples is, if you want to go the distance, it's not just the "big things" that you've got to stay up on; it's the little things too. Something as simple as you being a morning person while your partner is a night owl can affect everything from quality of sleep to quality time to your sex life. That's why, when it comes to couples who have different sleep patterns who still want to have a fulfilling sexual dynamic, I'm all about encouraging them to do what is at the foundation for all successful relationships — compromise. Sometimes that means that an alarm clock needs to be set or someone needs to initiate some, umm, stuff (more on that in a bit) in order to get the juices flowing (pun intended and not intended).

Victoria Monét has worked behind the scenes as a songwriter penning hits for Ariana Grande, Chloe x Halle, Brandy, and more, and now it's time for her to stand in the spotlight. The "Coastin'" singer has dropped multiple projects over the last few years to showcase her vocal talent and so far she has been receiving praise for her sultry and jazzy sound. Her most recent project, the 2020 EP Jaguar stayed in the mode of jazz while also infusing sounds that are reminiscent of the '70s.

After previously saying that she was in the process of adopting children, Tiffany Haddish is putting motherhood on "pause." The beloved comedian grew up in the foster care system and originally wanted to be a foster mom, but with advice from her lawyers, she decided that adoption would be best. It was actually pretty close to this time last year when I penned the piece "How To Get Through The Holidays If You Don't Observe Them". Unlike some of the other articles that I write for the site, I pulled that one from very personal experience. Being that my personality is very wired to "be good" on something once I know its origin, holidays are something that I tend to take a pass on; this includes Thanksgiving (some insightful reads on its origin are found here, here and here). Still, this doesn't mean I'm not aware of the fact that many people use this time of year to reflect on their blessings and to say "thanks" for all the good that has come their way. Since I like to write on relationships a lot, I thought to myself, "Why not come up with ways for people to show gratitude to their significant other?"
