Eve Reveals A Bad Experience Made Her Stop Dating Men With Kids Until She Met Her Husband

On her list of non-negotiables, not dating a man with kids was definitely one of them.

Celebrity News

Eve has a lot of things to celebrate! First, she made her return to scripted TV since her 2000s self-titled sitcom Eve, and second, she is having her first child at 42. While the rapper is basking in the new phase of her life as a first-time mother, she's not necessarily new to motherly duties.

The Queens star's husband Maximillion Cooper has four kids from a previous marriage and during an interview with Jazzy McBee, midday host on Atlanta radio station Streetz 94.5, the rapper reflected on the time in her life when she purposely would avoid dating men with kids.

That was until she met her husband of course. Recalling some of her restrictions when it came to dating, Eve said:

"Well one of them was he can't have no kids, which that was like a big thing and then I found a man with four," she revealed. "For years I would be like, 'oh you got kids?' And they'll be like, 'yeah' and I'll be like, 'I'm good,' but it's because I had a bad situation. I was dating a dude and it was such a bad situation with the baby mom so I was just like I'm done."

The former talk show host also revealed another restriction she had that she changed when she met the British entrepreneur. Long-distance relationships.

"We met and he [Maximillion] was like long-distance. I know a lot of people don't like long-distance. It is annoying, but it made us communicate more because we were so long distance we had to talk to each other."

The "Love is Blind" artist and Maximillion have been married for six years after dating for four years. During a 2020 interview with People, Eve confessed that she didn't think their relationship would last because he had kids.

"In the beginning when I first met my husband, then-boyfriend, I was like, 'This is never gonna last because you got four kids! How's this gonna work?' But then I met the kids and honestly was like, 'Wow, kids are amazing.'"

As far as her journey to having kids of her own, the "Ruff Ryder" emcee has had a tough one. In November 2020, during her time on The Talk, the rapper opened up about her fertility issues and undergoing a surgical procedure to remove fibroids to improve her chances of becoming pregnant.

"I'm 42 now. You know, my husband and I, we've been trying and trying and trying, and we've been doing certain things. At the beginning of the year, I had a procedure called a myomectomy that gets rid of fibroids."

Now, Eve is 5 months pregnant.

We wish her the best in her pregnancy!
