You're reading this right now because xoNecole Founder Necole Kane chose purpose over a paycheck and that should be a whole word for someone out there right now.

Despite a steadily secured bag, a dedicated fanbase, and years of development, Necole hit the industry with the ultimate crossover when she decided to shut down her gossip blog, NecoleBitchie.com, to create a platform that bolsters boss ass black women every damn day.

I'm not a big fan of sports, but I know a layup when I see one and Necole did TF out of that.

Our founder recently pulled up to HLN/CNN's The Career Crossover to explain how she dutifully (and sometimes tearfully) pushed through her pain to live out her purpose and according to her, the beginning of the end of her former business came at an event where she was booked to give a motivational speech and instead delivered the opposite:

"I went to an event and I remember I was supposed to be motivational, but when it was my turn to speak, I just started crying and everybody was wondering like, what's wrong with her? What's wrong with her? And I said, 'I'm sorry, I'm supposed to be inspiring you today, but I don't like my life and I don't like my brand.' But it wasn't easy."

While creating xoNecole.com serves as one of her proudest moments to-date, Necole shared that her evolution didn't come until finding the courage to let go of the things that didn't serve her, even if that meant temporarily saying goodbye to stability in the process. When asked what advice she has for women who are adamant about making a major career transition but feel stuck in the self-doubt struggle, Necole had this advice:

"For me, it was remembering my why. I was willing to go broke. I was willing to lose relationships. I was willing to lose relevancy just because my why was so strong."

In the feature, Necole also reminded us of the danger of being defined by your title and allowing others to put you in a box. Self-sabotage is a sensitive superhero's kryptonite and I know this firsthand, but Necole says that by choosing faith over fear—you'll win every time.

"If you're not living your life to the fullest and being happy, you chose to die already. And that keeps me going every single day."
