With Will Packer being the man behind so many of our favorite romantic comedies like Girls Trip, About Last Night, What Men Want, and many more, it's hard not to wonder how he is so in tune with concepts that women love. Perhaps his secret sauce is being a great listener and valuing the input of women. Madame Noire got the chance to speak to this mega-producer and his wife, Heather Packer, to figure out firsthand what he thinks men truly want, and what the couple learned from each other during their relationship.
When it comes to the question of what men want, Will thinks that the answer is not too complicated. He explains:
"I think men want to learn, I hope. At the end of the day, men are simple creatures. What you think men want, that's what they want. I'm glad this gift doesn't actually exist, because it's dark in there when you're talking about the mind of a man...I think for me and the men that I know, we really are just trying to please women that matter to us."
That desire to learn makes it more obvious why he and Heather have such a successful romance, being that she is a woman that he has learned a great deal from. The two wed back in August of 2015 after meeting at the Essence Music Festival in 2009, leading to his proposal on stage in the Superdome in 2013. Will describes Heather as much more than his lover, but as his best friend and cheerleader:
"She is someone who always pushes me to not talk about what could happen and not talk about what I hope would happen but claim it as already happening. She is somebody who has taught me that I can actually help to manifest success in my life if I speak it into existence and if I believe it so fiercely and so strongly that I have no choice but to go out and make it happen."
The support is mutual with this dynamic duo, as Heather describes being drawn in by his creative spirit and his ability to dream big. When questioned about what she has learned from her husband that has helped her grow and evolve as a woman, she explains:
"Oh wow. [I have learned] So much. He's such a go-getter, such a goal setter. I give him the support he needs, but he supports me back and he encourages me to follow my dreams as well…his tenacity. His spirit."
This couple proves that love is transformative and evolutionary, often helping people reach new heights of success and personal growth. It is always refreshing to see great examples of Black love both on and off screen. Cheers!
