Willow might only be 14 years old, but she's schooling us about life.
This week, the forever cool and free-spirited singer decided to end her two-year break from releasing music videos by dropping an interesting visual for her latest single "F Q-C #7." The xylophone-heavy tune was released two weeks ago on Tidal and sounds completely different from Willow's "Whip My Hair" days. In the video, we watch an entire band of colorful Willow clones playing instruments while she's dressed in all black with tribal makeup and a cute Afro. She wanders in the street and up a tree as she sings about skipping class and living life:
I'm just climbin' on trees, And skippin' my class now, Don't place your blame on me
Spoken like a true free spirit!
Willow, who produced and co-directed the video, took a minute to reveal why there are several versions of her wearing different colors:
"The different Me’s represent my Chakras. Yellow is Self-confidence, Blue is my voice (song), Red is my survival instinct, and the Black is a combination of everything (the true me)."
So, what exactly is a Chakra?
In Hindu culture, there are seven basic Chakras (aka energy centers) aligned on the human spine from head to feet. Each Chakra has its own unique location, set of emotions, color, and set of dependent organs. For example, the Root (Red) Chakra is based on feeling grounded without any threat to survival needs. If a person lacks the survival instinct that Miss Willow has, the remedy would be to literally get in touch with the Earth and eat red foods. The ultimate goal is to not only recognize our individual strong Chakras, but to work on improving our weaker ones through diet, yoga, meditation, and color-specific foods so we can achieve overall balance/good health. Since all of the colors come together to make Black, it looks like Willow is living her life in harmony!
Does Willow's new video make you want to learn more about your Chakras?
