Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably seen the latest internet phenomena making its way across social media channels:
The Mannequin Challenge.
Everyone from athletes to movie stars to even our favorite girl group of all time, Destiny’s Child, has participated in the eerie but fun mannequin challenge over the last few days.
If you haven’t heard of the challenge let me be the first to warn you that simply searching the hashtag #mannequinchallenge is sure to have you losing hours of productivity (as if we don’t lose that already on social media anyway) because people have gotten pretty creative with this newest challenge.
While this challenge has been exciting to just sit back and watch, it has caused me to sit back and reflect on my own life. Yes, you read that correctly, the Mannequin Challenge has caused me to reflect. It’s weird, I know, but don’t judge me because I don’t judge you.
Whether we choose to admit it or not, we live in a world where we are always on the go. As we put in effort to work on one thing, we are already thinking about the next thing we need to do. It has even gotten to the point that we can’t even enjoy the little moments we have with our friends and families because we don’t know how to simply stop, be still, and live in the present.
What if, for one moment, we did just as the Mannequin Challenge has done and pressed pause amid everything going on around us? Sure, people may look at you crazy, and some people may even judge your lack of movement, but who cares?
What if we just took a moment to be still and realize that nothing is ever too important where we can’t just stop and smell the roses?
I actually think the world would be a better place if learned to take a moment to press pause from time to time. Life happens and it gets tough (trust me we have all been there) but if we don’t take a moment to press pause, how will we ever learn to truly appreciate the journey that life has destined us to be on? More importantly, how will we ever learn the truest lesson in life, which is that life goes on?

As you go through your day, take a moment and be still. You may be at the top of your mountain or even in your lowest valley, but wherever you are, you are there. And there is a lesson you can learn from simply just hitting the pause button and being still for a moment.

Hell, you might even want to hashtag it and
do it for the Vine put it on Twitter and inspire others in the process.
