Tamera Mowry-Housely is once again killing the maternity fashion game and giving great advice to moms with Baby #2!
The Real talk show co-host is looking flawless on the cover of American Baby magazine, as she sports wavy, highlighted long locks, bright blue pumps, and a colorful printed pantsuit that’s a perfect fit for her cute belly.
In the magazine, she opens up about her journey through her second pregnancy as she and her hubby Adam come close to giving their 2 year old son Aiden a baby sister. Now that she’s a pro at being a mommy, the actress offered a ton of practical advice for new moms, including embracing the weird parts of pregnancy, avoiding obsessing over keeping things tidy and losing the baby weight.
1.) Embrace the weird parts of pregnancy
“I feel so sorry for my husband, Adam. He wears cologne, and when I’m pregnant I can’t stand its smell — or even the scent of his deodorant. He takes a shower before bed. My dreams get worse when I’m pregnant and close to my due date. I dream my baby’s going to just pop out and fall. But everyone tells me dreams like this are normal.”
2.) Don't fret over tidiness.
I remember being in Aden’s nursery before he was born, making sure everything was clean and tidy. I was with Tia [Mowry, my twin sister], and she started chuckling. When I asked her why she was laughing, she said, ‘Enjoy the room and how it looks now, because once you have the baby, his stuff is going to be all over the place.’ Of course, she was right!
3) Breastfeeding doesn't guarantee that you'll shed the weight super fast
After Aden, I thought I’d have my flat stomach back in a month by nursing. But I didn’t! I wondered, ‘What is wrong with me?’ But my pediatrician said that there are some women who keep on 15 pounds when they are nursing, while others burn fat like crazy. I could not lose the last 15 pounds until Aden was weaned.
4) You will probably be sleepy all of the time, but you have to keep up! Especially if you already have a little one.
When you’re pregnant and have a toddler, you are sleepy all the time. With my first pregnancy, I could nap whenever I wanted to, and I had fewer dishes and clothes to wash. And while getting to the gym is hard in general, when you’re a mom, it’s so difficult. Plus, while everyone else may be kinder to you when you’re pregnant, your toddler doesn’t take it easier on you at all. You have to keep up!
Meanwhile, the bubbly twin couldn’t hide her excitement about her recent interview. A few days ago, she posted on her personal website about her admiration for the magazine and how she feels oh-so-sexy as an expecting mama.
With baby #2 on the way (yay!), I was so honored when American Baby magazine asked me to be on their July cover. The magazine is a terrific asset for expectant and new moms. They cover everything from health advice to how to get through trying times and enjoy all of the exciting moments that take place on this journey of motherhood.
I couldn’t have been happier with the shoot day. I got to get all dolled up (I feel so sexy and powerful during pregnancy), loved working with their team (they made me so comfortable), and shared about what being a parent is really all about. I touched on some of what having Aden has taught me in my Mother’s Day post, but dove a little deeper in the magazine’s piece.
