These Elevated Loungewear Looks Are Replacing Our Go-To Sweatpants

Pajamas, but make them fashion.

Style

If you're completely over wearing sweatpants every day, I completely feel your pain. Although I love a comfy casual look, I've been yearning for a chic yet practical alternative to my baggy sweats and oversized t-shirts. Not that I don't love a matching sweatsuit, but every now and then a girl needs to pull out that 'feel good' outfit, even at home. As life on the outside is slowly reopening in most areas, some of us are not fully prepared to embrace normal everyday constricting outfits quite yet. At the beginning of the sweeping stay-at-home orders, I raced to get my hands on the most comfortable at-home staples I could find. Now that we're entering a new year, I'm ready for alternatives that still meet my everyday needs without making me look and feel frumpy.

As we slowly transition back to everyday ready-to-wear looks, I am now in the market for stylish pieces perfect for both staying in and going out. The new anti-sweat trend has arrived, meeting all of our needs when it comes to elevated comfort and style. Comfortably worn at home, luxury loungewear is solving our stay-at-home fatigue, smoothly moving us towards sleek all-day looks you'll never want to take off. If you're in need of sophisticated loungewear ideas, scroll to find a few of my favorite looks!

Feather Duster

This champagne feather duster is the perfect embellished silk house coat. Perfect for staying in or going out, this is a super chic addition to your luxury leisure looks. I'm obsessed with this color as it's a soft rendition of an elevated at-home look featuring a low v-neckline, button-down detailing, and an unforgettable feather back and sleeve detail.

Satin Separates

Perfect for a winter beach getaway, this is a 90's inspired three-piece look we all need in our lives. With "its lightweight material flowy enough for summer and its heavy-weight drape made for year-round-luxuriating," this is the perfect go-to satin look. Achieve this look with the Laina Rauma satin bikini along with the matching pajama pants and long sleeve oversized button-down.

Geometric Prints

It's all about the dramatic sleeves for me in this floral print kimono robe. Nothing is more relaxing than a silky kimono and fresh linen sheets on the perfect Sunday afternoon. Doubled as a dress, this is perfect when in need of a touch of luxury in your life.

Luxe Pajama Set

Satin is always a major look especially when worn as a casual outfit. Whether lounging around the house or out and about, it's always a major vibe. When outside the house, pair a satin two-piece with a vintage-inspired shoulder bag and a bold cat eye sunny for an outdoor sophisticated look.

Satin Feathers

The 'Party Pajamas' set is perfect for a weekend escape to Martha's Vineyard or lounging on your back patio. One of the most iconic PJ sets on the internet, this is a major look for the modern fashionista. Pair with a house slipper or flat loafer for a comfy chic outfit.

Cardigan Dress

Undeniably elegant, I'm obsessed with this oversized knit. The Hanifa brand has managed to perfect the balance of chic versatility transforming this classic style into a cozy chic staple every woman needs in her closet. Designed to complement your waist and natural curves, its classic wrap dress design is meant for everyday comfort and flawless style.

Satin Robe

We all love the perfect robe to prance around the house but the robe to wear on a night out is revolutionary. 2020 has shown us that functionality and style can coexist within our day to night looks. Make this look your own with a clutch and jeweled pump for an elegant twist on a classic silhouette.

Velour Set

The Velour tracksuit is yet again taking over the mainstream leisure world with a major upgrade. Whether you have outings to attend or have a comfy luxe moment at home, the oversized velvet look is perfect for an updated yet throwback early 2000's look. Super soft and draping, this is another look you'll never want to take off.

Recently, I watched a YouTube video that was so ridiculous (to me, anyway) that I'm not gonna even link y'all to it. The gist was it featured a woman who was going on and on about us not needing men anymore because we've got technology. When another woman refuted her point by bringing up the fact that it takes both men and women to keep humanity going, I thought about a woman in my own world who is currently so fed up with guys that she's now named her vibrator, claiming that is the only "man" she needs. Chile.

When we think of R&B, we think of soul. Soul, by definition, is emotional or intellectual energy or intensity, especially as revealed in a work of art or an artistic performance. Black people are soul. Everything about us. Our hair. Our energy. Our skin. And, without a doubt, the creativity that courses through every inch of who we are. So, when it comes to our music, spiritual experiences are often what we call them. Makes sense, for there are no other people who remain unbroken the way we do. And every so often, an artist comes along who seems to be the physical manifestation of all that we are.

In xoNecole's Finding Balance, we profile boss women making boss moves in the world and in their respective industries. We talk to them about their business, and most of all, what they do to find balance in their busy lives.

As the summer comes to an end, we must welcome the time for change. Say goodbye to summer and hello to cooler weather! And we know what that means ladies: We have to switch up our fashion trends, how we wear our hair, and even our skincare routines. When it comes to skincare, we as Black queens have to make sure our products are on point for all the seasons. It is crucial for us to protect our blessed and melanated beauty.

You would think with the amount of trends and dollars being put behind beauty brands, that there would be better representation in the medical field to help us understand our skin better from the jump. Unfortunately, Black physicians only make up 5% of the physician population, and if we want to talk about Black dermatologists specifically, well that number is even lower.

It can be more than challenging trying to balance childcare, COVID-19 prevention (hey, Delta), and work. It's hard enough not worrying about whether your kid's school will cancel in-person classes or shut down altogether while facing the not-so-usual growing pains of children and teens who are forced to live in whatever phase of a pandemic we're in right now. (I mean, is it really post-pandemic? Is it halfway done or just beginning? And what's "normal" about this "new" environment?)

Moms, we feel your pain.

Keke Palmer is easily one of our favorite tell-it-like-it-is celebrities. From her up close and personal revelation of her battle with adult acne to doing it for the culture at the MET Gala to admitting she's "sorry to this man," Keke is known to give it to you straight, no chaser. And it's that commitment to being unapologetic in telling her truth that draws others to her like the light that she is.
