Karrueche Tran Talks Learning Mindfulness: ‘I Can’t Do Everything. I Can’t Be Everything And That’s Okay’

From stylist to model to Emmy award-winning actress, we have witnessed Karrueche Tran’s career continue to thrive and expand. And with such a demanding and competitive career, the Claws star has sometimes found herself neglecting her mental health in order to achieve her goals. Karrueche opened up about how she deals with career comparisons and working in wellness practices to her busy schedule.

"It's a battle, it's important to be mindful of what's real and what's not. Because when you're on Instagram, and you're scrolling, and you know, this person has this, or this person booked this job, and we're judging them, or we're judging ourselves, we're comparing ourselves and I had to let that go," she confessed in an interview with Yahoo.

"I can't do everything, I can't be everything ... and that's okay," she says.

Karrueche first gained popularity when she began dating Chris Brown in 2011 but since their breakup, she has worked to make a name for herself in entertainment. She has starred in Claws, the web series The Bay in which she became the first Asian American Pacific Islander to win an Emmy, and more recently she appeared in Bel-Air.

Over the last few years though, the 34-year-old has learned to become more “mindful of what I'm telling myself and what I'm thinking about in my head and how that affects my day-to-day."

"Having that type of energy constantly in your brain, at some point it exudes outside of you, whether it's in your energy, whether it's in your words, whether it becomes stress on your body or even acne."

She added, "I have had to learn to accept whatever it is. 'You're a little nervous?' 'It's fine.' 'How can we work through this?' 'Take some deep breaths.' 'Let's research.' 'What can you do to prepare?' You know, I've found ways to turn that negativity or that anxiousness into fuel.”

While becoming more conscious of how she speaks to herself, another wellness practice she participates in is sound baths. She said that she got into doing sound baths after a friend introduced her to it and the actress began having Instagram Live sessions with it during the pandemic.

"We actually got a lot of great feedback and even to this day, people are like, 'do your sound baths again.' So it's really interesting that even virtually people were still able to feel some sort of effect from it," she shared.

According to Very Well Mind, sound baths “is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself.”

Karrueche also cites hot yoga and spending time in the sun as other wellness practices that have helped her mental health.

7 Sex-Related Problems That Ruin Sex (And Possibly Your Relationship)

Not too long ago, while in an interview, someone asked me to define one of the main purposes of sex in a long-term relationship: “Probably the most intimate form of communication that we have is sex because it’s an act that connects one’s physical, mental and emotional state to another human being simultaneously — and communication doesn’t get much more profound than that.”
