Three kids, two divorces, and one successful, long-running career later, Garcelle Beauvais regrets nothing...even the good, the bad, and the really ugly.
On "Where Are They Now?," Garcelle caught up with Oprah's crew and talked about how she made her stamp in the industry when she was on the "Jamie Foxx Show," but right in the middle of the five-season run she divorced her first husband, leaving her a single mom of a son. Thinking she was being careful about who she dated, Garcelle met and married CAA talent agent Mike Nilon in 2001 whom she was with for nine years and had twin sons with before finding out he was having a five-year affair after seeing an "I love you" text come up on his phone.
I was a single mom, working actress in Hollywood and I really wanted to be careful and choose wisely on the man that I would bring home to my son. And I thought that I had won the Lotto in husbands [with Mike].
[Then] my life was just turned upside down. I forgot my phone at home. I said, 'Hey, can I use your phone to call my mom?' So I went to go make the call and I saw 'I love you.' I looked again and I said, 'What's this?' And that's pretty much how everything changed.
Don't mess with a woman scorned, because that same night Garcelle found out about Mike's cheating, she put him on blast by sending out an email to all of his CAA workers that had the subject line, "Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon," and said, "What do they have in common . . . I found out today that MY husband of almost 9 yrs has been having an affair for 5 yrs with some slut in Chicago. I am devastated!!!! And I have been duped!! Our boys don't deserve this!"
The NY Post got a leaked copy of the email and reported on it (which caused a firestorm around the Internet), and Garcelle said in order for her to get over the public humiliation and her husband's infidelity, she had to do some therapy and life coaching to get her life right for her children.
When I'd actually looked and realized that it'd been leaked I was sobbing. Sobbing. It's embarrassing but at the same time you're in pain. It was another part of the devastation, honestly. I went to therapy. I got a life coach. I did all the things that they say you should do because I didn't want my adult drama to effect my kids. I couldn't have moved on and been a good parent and co-parent with him if I didn't do those things. We're doing the best we can for those boys. They deserve it.
Whew! The drama!
But when a woman's scorned...
