Nothing says love like a text message proposal filled with bribery.
If there's one woman who can relate to Beyonce's "Best Thing I Never Had," it's Floyd Mayweather's ex-fiancee Shantel "Miss Jackson" Jackson.
The beauty filed a lawsuit last September against her former boxing boyfriend, claiming he choked and pulled out a gun on her, defamed her good name, held her prisoner, and a host of other offenses. And as the case moves forward, we're learning more details about their tumultuous relationship. Like the fact that Floyd tried to wife Miss Jackson by bribing her.
According to April 2014 text message receipts presented to the court by Miss Jackson, Floyd offered her a contract more so than a romantic proposal. The champion boxer promised to do better but offered her incentives like placement in A-list movies and a condo in exchange for becoming Mrs. Mayweather. And like all contracts, this one had its conditions -- Miss Jackson had to "have a better attitude."
This is what I offer to you let's get married move in together you can go back in forth to LA and stay at the condo I promise I will get you in 3 A list movies this year and I'm willing to go to counseling to make us work and you can get the stuff you want and I'm willing to change, but I need you to have a better attitude.
And going by the rest of the text messages the 30-year-old presented to the court, we can all see why Miss Jackson turned down his second proposal, aside from the alleged abuse. When Floyd wasn't reminding Miss Jackson that he upgraded her or tracing her phone and hiring detectives, he was threatening to leak her nudes!
Peep some of the texts:
Floyd: I got you b*tch
I took you from rags to riches now you back to rags bitch that's why your out seling shit going on petty ass auditions fronting to people your doing it big sh-t
Shantel: Blah blah blah. Imma ask you one more time can I have my stuff back.
Floyd: I had your phone traced.
I hired a detective.
Your not slick if it was a dude that's all you to say
Call me please
Everything we threw is gone down the drain
I got nasty videos too that I can put on Instagram and twitter
As you recall, he ended up leaking her abortion documents instead.
Floyd was also hurt when Miss Jackson moved on with Nelly, texting her a picture of the two together and wanting to know if the photo meant they were hooking up. Obviously, it did as the couple is still going strong while Floyd continues to juggle various women.
The text proposal was probably nothing like Floyd's first proposal since Shantel did "say yes" to that one before breaking up and getting back together again.
In an interview with Sister 2 Sister, he revealed:
Miss Jackson is my fiancée. I stand behind her 100 percent. No relationship is perfect. Sometimes we don’t see eye to eye. Sometimes I don’t see eye to eye with my dad; he’s my trainer. But at the end of the day, I love my father, I love my family, and I love Miss Jackson and she loves me.
I’m happy with one woman. I have one woman in my life, which is Miss Jackson. So all the stories that people are saying about Floyd is with this woman and that woman, like I said before, is just rumors.
Right now we’re working on so many different things for her, as far as her acting, her clothing line.
I feel like any real man that loves his woman is going to invest in her, period. Any real man that’s got friends that don’t have it and he does have it, or he or she has it and they don’t have it, [he’s] going to give that person a boost to take them to that next level. I don’t know how they done it in your era, but in my era they call it—a young man that spends money on a female—they call it trickin’. And what I like to say is this: If I look good and I got it, the woman that’s standing next to me, she should look good and she should have it.
Also, after going in on Miss Jackson and Nelly in an interview with Big Tigger last year, Floyd issued an apology for the way he had treated her in the past:
I am going to be the bigger person. I’m going to say I apologize about things I’ve done in the past that I shouldn’t have done. Because I’m not perfect. I know I’ve been there for her as a friend, not just a fiancé but as a friend. I know my good outweighs my bad.
As for Shantel, she hasn't said anything publicly about Floyd since the split, but her Instagram bio, 'I Can't Be Bought' says a whole lot.
