William Bruce Jenner (October 28, 1949 - June 1, 2015)
All those "Brucetta" and "Bertha" jokes can now cease because the man formerly known as Bruce Jenner has finally unveiled his new look and name -- Caitlyn Jenner!
The reality star made the explosive reveal with a shocking Vanity Fair July 2015 cover that has her giving some serious Cindy Crawford tease in a cream-colored corset and fabulous hair. It's the first time we're getting to see Caitlyn, in all her femininity, since Bruce's 20/20 interview in April.
The special edition magazine boasts 22 pics of Caitlyn looking perfectly comfortable in her skin as the 65-year-old serves and poses in assorted gowns and heels.
Shot by famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, Caitlyn says the shoot is all about her life and not for publicity or props.
That was a good day, but the last couple of days were better. . . . This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving you ‘that a boy, Bruce,’ pat on the back, O.K. This is about your life.
Caitlyn also says that she's completely free now because being Bruce meant she was living a lie every single day. She recalls Bruce wearing bra and panty hose underneath his suit while doing press after winning the Olympic gold in 1976.
As for Bruce's "equipment," Caitlyn is still the proud owner. In his 20/20 interview in April, Bruce revealed he was still very much attracted to women and was never into men.
I am not gay. I am as far as I know; I am heterosexual. I’ve never been with a guy. Sexuality is who you’re personally attracted to, who turns you on, male or female. But gender identity has to do with who you are as a person and your soul and who you identify with inside.
[A sex change] is so far down the road… I want a free soul and a lot of great friends. I just want a great life; it’s that simple… Let’s go with asexual for now.
Congrats to Bruce for letting go and allowing Caitlyn to be free. Everyone deserves to live their truth. Caitlyn will also be honored at this year's ESPYs. ESPN has confirmed plans to award her with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage!
