If you had some reservations about Yaya DaCosta playing Whitney Houston in a Lifetime biopic about the legend, then you may want to watch this new sneak peek.
Entertainment Tonight was on set for the Angela Bassett-directed film and we gotta say, it looks like Yaya has Nippy's mannerisms down! In one quick scene, Yaya introduces Bobby Brown [played by actor Arlen Escarpeta] and does so with the same high-energy spirit Whitney was known for. Plus, it looks like she has Whit's stage presence down, too. This movie may not be a bust after all.
As for the vocals, Yaya will be lipsyncing to Deborah Cox. The big-voice singer was tapped to cover Whitney's songs, including the iconic, "I Will Always Love You," and this film will definitely remind you that Deborah can BLOW!
While on set, Yaya revealed that she's taken a break from social media during filming so that she can stay focused:
I kind of shut off all social media because I didn't want to be distracted by the expectations, the naysayers.

Cissy Houston has released a statement in regards to the film with hopes that Lifetime will stop production. It states:
"Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby," she said in a statement to ET. "In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest."
Angela Bassett and the producers, meanwhile, insist that they just want to honor Whitney. The film will premiere in early 2015.
