Love is back in the air!
Huge congratulations are in order for The Real co-host Adrienne Bailon! The former Cheetah Girl singer is engaged!
The 31-year-old broke the news on her Instagram today, where she showed off her blinging boulder of an engagement ring fiancé Lenny Santiago proposed with.
She captioned the endearing photo of her future hubby planting a kiss:
YES! [heart emoji] @kodaklens
I will soon be Mrs. Lenny S. [diamond ring emoji]
So how did Lenny, the Senior VP of A&R at Roc Nation and manager to Fabolous, propose?
In an episode of The Real airing this Monday, Adrienne reveals that Lenny gave her a box of carrots before taking to one knee and proposing with actual carats LOL!
While being hugged by the other ladies, Bailon explained that while on a visit back home in New York recently, her beau of almost six years convinced her to get out of her pajamas one night and go to a nice dinner with the family. When they got to the empty restaurant in upstate New York, Santiago gave a speech to her parents about how much he loves their daughter and said he had a gift for everyone.
The surprise present—wait, it's not what you think—was supposed to show the family that he knows Adrienne is worth it and will be able to give her everything she deserves in due time. Bailon continues to share that she ripped through the tissue in the box to find...carrots. Yep, carrots.
"Was this like the harvest of our love?" Bailon joked, and explained that she expressed her appreciation and love for the carrots, regardless. Then, Santiago says, "Well, since you said yes to those carrots..." and gets on his knee to propose with that gorgeous sparkler.
The couple have been together for six years, but it wasn't until recently that Adrienne started becoming more open about her relationship.
In an interview with Latina magazine last year, the former 3LW singer said she was so in love with the Roc Nation executive, that she just couldn't keep it private anymore and had to let everyone know how she felt. She also dished on wanting to get married and starting a family.
On going public with her new love Lenny:
I wanted to let people know that we’re not a secret—we’re just private. Secret relationships are shady, and it’s never been that. Five years into our relationship, we’re no longer at the beginning—we’re established now. We’re in a great, strong place where any negativity cast our way won’t affect us. It was a big birthday for him—he turned 40—and I felt like, ‘I want people to know that I love you, and I think you’re freakin’ amazing.’
On being ready to settle down:
If by some miracle we started taping The Real in New York tomorrow, I’d marry him, like, right now. I want a family. I see my sister and she’s on her second baby, and I’m like, That’s success. Having a family—I can’t wait for that.
And now she's on her way. Congrats to the happy pair!
